I would have another tattoo....but not one with my partners name. I know that I can never imagine not being with him, otherwise I wouldn't be marrying him, but I just couldn't bring myself to etch anyone's name on me.

No I'd never have one, I hate them. I do have a tattoo but I find having a partners name a bit tacky. Hope that doesn't offend anyone.

I know people that got their partners name whilst madly deeply in love and the relationship broke up which really isn't a good look! As much as people think they will be with someone forever and ever I believe you just never know and therefore a name permantly on you is a bit risky!

I wouldn't get one, no. My OH has my name on his neck (my pic is the original drawing of his tat, a lotus flower with my name above it) We'd only been together 4 months when he had it done ?

I was brought up to frown upon them, as my mum had a blokes name tattooed on her wrist when she was 19, and now covers it up with a watch.

Here's a pic, scabs and all...

Ebony I hope you don't mind me asking but how do you feel about him having your name tattooed on? Just asking out of curosity really. I don't know if I'd want my hubby to have my name on him for some reason ?

I have my H2Bs name tattooed on the inside of my right arm. However, its written in chinese so if anything was to ever happen between us (god forbid) i can say it means egg fried rice or something like that. lol

Uhm, honestly? A bit freaked out. When he told me he was getting it, I didn't believe him. he sent a pic to my phone as he was getting it done, and my face was like this ?. I was in shock for ages.

I've got used to seeing it, but sometimes I stop and think "WTF have you done?"

I love that he loves me that much (And a really immature part of me loves that he got my name and didn't get the name of his ex wife tattooed, how sad is that?) but I have to face questions of "when you getting my name?" er..."I'M NOT"

I love tattoos, I have 7 at the moment, planning number 8 and 9!

I'd never get a name inked, but I'm having a kanji design that translates as 'father remembered, faithful lover, cherished son' for the 3 important men in my life.

Anyways im not supposed 2 be blabbing on after im married i was thinking of having roman numerals down my spine first my sons DOB then wedding date and i thought that was a nice gesture 2 my hubby?? And if we r not 2gether 4ever hes still the wee ones dad so i would never remove it ?

I did wonder if you'd get asked those questions! Ekkkk but it was his choice to get the tattoo and therefore it's your choice not to get his name on yourself!

I don't mind symbols that mean a name because that it's obvious as to what it stands for. My hubby has 2 chinese symbols which are something to do with father and son or the names of his boys but I can't remember exactly.

My friends mum has just left her dad after 24 years, and he has just got a tatoo of her name, like in the last month. Just goes to show that no matter how sure you are things can always change.

Personally, I hate them. Think they look awful and tacky and make me think a. its some form of branding or b. you're such a retard you need reminding who they are. Sorry.

I'm not a fan generally so won't be getting his name done. I've seen so many tattoos that look rubbish that I wouldn't risk it. I know people say they're body art but I've only ever seen two that look like works of art, the majority of the others look as if a kid scribbled on you in felt tip or you had a paint by numbers party on your body.

I wouldn't go for his name, purely because I'm not a fan of 'name' tattoos but I like the idea of the wedding date in roman numerals. I was thinking of having one for the wedding anyway, we got married on 8/8 so was wondering about having someone design me something with the wedding rings making up the 8's iyswim??

No to names - never ever ever!

When I was 16 I was dating another guy in the army, he was 19. We met 6 months before he went to Iraq and he proposed before he went also. When he came back, he picked me up from school one afternoon and showed me his new tattoo - my name in big bold letters - my full name is Kayleigh. So it went the whole length from his elbow onto his wrist.

Me and the same ex also had japaneese symbols tattooed on us, me on my back, his on his outer arm.

We split up and he got them covered - I would assume anyway. I haven't covered mine as whatever happened between us, I am over the bitterness and it acts as a reminder of the things I have learnt from that relationship.

Nonononononono to names. symbols aren't anywhere near as bad, as you can always lie about the meaning in the future - who would know?

i have 5 tattoos and am currently planning another mega one. H has 4 - his most recent being our wedding date on his forearm. i'm still not sure how i feel about it - he has said that if we were to get divorced (touch wood it never happens) he would just put a line through it. he sees that tattoo, and tats in general, as a picture of a moment in time, that he didn't and at the moment doesn't regret getting.

this 'of the moment' reason is why he has a tattoo of the thai flag, done on honeymoon in thailand, on his inner arm.... i still don't know WTF he was thinking...

I've got OH's name in chinese on my back but where it's part of my back piece it doesn't really stand out.

I don't think i'd ever have it in english, probably not even his initial.

The only names i'd ever have in english would be my children's.

Ive got my husbands name on the back of my neck, and I absolutely love it, I wear my hair down all the time so it is covered so people who don't know me wouldn't know I have it. Hubby was happy for me to have it done, but it was my idea to do it. They are not for everyone though.

This is a pic of when I had just had it done

You wouldnt like me much ? I've got a big one on my shoulder and a half sleeve on my right arm. It's made up of the kidlets birth month flowers - Violet for Feb, daisy for April, and asther for September. I absolutely love love love it and have had lots of compliments. My other half has a full sleeve of scenes from Dante's inferno. He's had the descent to hell down one arm and is having the ascent to heaven up the other one. It is soooooooooo sexy.

As to having my other half's name on me - nah. Wouldn't do it, don't like the look of it. Would be killed by my mother for a start!

I have been with my DH for 16 years married for 3 and we have 4 children. I have 5 tattoo's and one of them is he's name on my wedding finger (like katie price) i love it. It cant be seen as i wear an engagement and wedding ring alot of people dont even know i have it. Its for me and only me if ever we got divorced i'd just wear a different ring lol. He has my name across the top of he's back and it is huge (too big for my taste) but its what he wanted.

It looks a tad swollen cos that's when I'd just finished the 4th and final hour. Well worth it I feel Smiley smile

Oooh minicooper... I love swallows! Please post pics when you have had them done. My belly is already tattooed with 100 stretch marks lol!

Er I'm the same......except mine's the ex!!! A fool at 22 had then partners name in chinese on lower back....married him at 24 and split up with him 8 months later ha ha!! Still got it and my now h2b is very understanding although the odd dig does come my way! I've asked him to design something to go over the top of it so it's covered and then it's something that he's doen rather than me getting his name on me!

I have a star on my wrist, but I'd never have H2B's name tattooed on me and he wouldn't want me to! My sister has her hubby's signature on her wrist, his and her kids' names on her ankle and 25 butterflies up her arm! Different strokes for different folks and all that x

Sorry, but I am one of those people who are really against tattoos.

I can just about tolerate them on men. But on ladies, no. It just doesn't enhance your body.

Sorry tattoo fans, but not for me at all.

Quite agree! Other designs I don't like include most cartoon characters, stars (unless you're making an emo statement), dolphins & unicorns (eek!) and naked ladies. I kinda like little ladybirds though.

I love bold designs, most of mine are tribal blackwork.

And it makes me laugh when people ask 'did it hurt?' !!!

I used to, and Miami Ink, but they always seemed to do memorials and portraits and I got bored! There was one where someone wanted their friends ashes mixed into the ink - kinda freaky.
