    Hi,

If you pop over to the weight loss boards another Hitcher - BLACKKAT is doing the cambride diet & has done fab on it.

I have just booked my hols, so need to get into shape too, may give it a go but in all honesty has NO will power

    Good luck with it all

    Debbie

    xx

I did the Cambridge diet a few years back and it is great if you have the will power not to eat anything. I started All About Weight a few months ago and I have lost 2lbs which is fab considering I haven't stuck to it to the letter. The prinicipals are the same to the Cambridge but with this one, you have 4 shakes, soups etc and one meal a day from a limited list of low fat, low carb foods.

I did it for 2 weeks & only lost 7lb, h2b managed to lost just over a stone!! It is VERY hard to stick to, well I found it hard not eating & since doing it I have heard of a few people that have later had gallstones caused by the rapid weight loss! It will make you lose weight but ideally you need to lose weight slowly & exercise to tone as you go otherwise you will end up with lots of excess skin!

    Hi there,

As Debbie said I did the Cambridge diet but I only managed 3 weeks, I lost 8lbs which kick started me to eat healthier. My sister lost a lot more when she did it but you do need to have will power & be able to drink lots of water.

    Good luck

    Hi

I did it for 3 weeks and lost 12 pounds so it works, but the first 3 days are a nightmare as you are pretty much detoxing so you get a really bad headache and hunger pains. It does get easier after the 3 days though.

I was on 3 packets a day, you can have either soup, shakes, porridge or after week 3 you can have a meal replacement bar (which is about as big as a flapjack). The shakes and porridge were OK and the porridge has a few lumps in it so it feels more substantial IYSWIM, I didnt like the soups very much but when i did have one, I made it in a saucepan so it felt like I was actually cooking and making something!

Personally, I wouldnt do it again. I love my food too much and found it way too restrictive. As much as I want to lose weight, I want to be healthy and in my opinion, it's not healthy to hardly eat anything. Plus as soon as you start eating again, no matter how healthy the food is, you put the weight back on.

I agree with the other girls, you have to have massive will power and be prepared to make sacrifices in your social life - I couldnt face going out for a drink with friends even cos all you can drink is water. SOrry if this all sounds miserable, I'm sure there are women and men out there who swear by it, but it just wasnt for me!

    Good luck

I did it years ago and it made me quite ill and when you think about it, it's not exactly a healthy way of eating and rapid weight loss is not medically advisable. The best way to lose weight is to maintain a healthy diet, exercise more and eat sensible portions - everything in moderation as they say!

Thank you ladies, you have helped me mke up my mind. I am not going to go down that route as I want to be healthy.

I already have a personal trainer so I have now admitted to her that Im struggling food wise and she has said she has a cunning plan so I will wait until Tuesday to see what she says!

    Thanks again everyone x
