OT - Think I have a problem....

CBear, 1 July, 2009 at 19:25 Posted on Planning 0 14

The other week I Sky+ed Mama Mia from Sky Movies, and I can't seem to stop watching it.

I know it's awful, but words cannot describe how much I love this film. Had seen it twice before it was on, I think I must have watched the recording 4 times (or maybe 5 ?)

Maybe there is some kind of support group I can join...

    Abba blasphemy!! ?

There is no way that will ever happen.

At least not til I get round to buying the DVD!

I have to admit that i'm not a huge fan of Mamma Mia but did have a tear in my eye when she sang "the winner takes it all"

It is the cheesiest film I have ever watched but I can't help playing 'Does your mamma know' full blast, with the sing-a-long lyrics!

I actually have vague recollections of dancing wildly to this at our wedding ?

The songs are the only redeeming feature of this film!!! (And even they are annoying - I am NOT of the Abba generation!)

I am definitely not an Abba fan and as such haven't actually seen Mamma Mia but everyone around me who's seen it raves about it, and says you don't need to love Abba to see it? I do like musicals but I just have no real interest in seeing this one.

But if you like it, indulge your addiction!! I am exactly the same with loads of films and programmes, am not satisfied until I have milked them dry and end up knowing every last word on the script ?

    You're right, I think you have a problem!! ?

I went to watch it and just couldn't get into it. I'll try again another time just to give it a second chance because like Stazzle said everyone around me raves about it too.

Had to reply - phew girls, i remember my friend saying she laughed all the way through it so was determined to see it and sat through it open mouthed in disbelief and utter awe at how awful it was, and just didnt get what people see in it, when i asked my friend why she laughed through it and she said it was because it was so awful it was either that or cry!

.....sorry please dont hate me lol

    P.s i love abba

I already knew the basis of the film before it came out as I saw the sho on Broadway a few years ago. I knew not to expect a great plotline or anything. I just love it, somehow the fact that the cast can't sing makes it better!

I dragged ABear kicking and screaking to the cinema to see it. She sat there with a stony face until they started singing Dancing Queen, at which point she whixpered to me "This is the best film in the world!"

She doesn't like it as much as me though, she's watched it once since I recorded it, every other time I've watched it while she's been at work.

If it makes you feel better I think I have a worse problem! I have Hairspray on Sky+ and must have watched the last song 20+ times and also subject visitors to my house to it while I sing along! I have no shame!
