O/T Vibro Plate machines

BonnieLass, 7 May, 2009 at 13:13 Posted on Planning 0 22

Has anyone used one / found it any good?

A new place has just opened close to where I live that specialises in these & sun beds, they're doing an offer - £30 unlimited* usage for a month (max of once per day) - is that good?

TIA! x

Bonnie Lass get your ass over there!

    £30 unlimited usage is wicked!!!!

Where i am its £20 for 20 minutes!!!

They are brilliant and i would go every day if they were not so expensive!

I went for a free trial and it was fab - felt all firm and trim after one session and ached like mad the next day so i know it was doing something right!!

    go for it!

OMG - had no idea there was such a difference in price!!

The £30 is an opening offer but it's not too much more on the normal price list...I know what I'm doing this weekend!

Do you spend 20 mins on it every time you go? I think it's 10 min sessions at this place x

I definatly stay on for the whole 20 mins - wana get my £20's worth!!!

It is quite knackering even though you arnt really moving (the plates do all the work for you)

It is a very strange sensation to start but you can start with just doing a few minutes and then build up the length of time and resistance on it!

Where in the country are you??? i wana join that offer!

They've got power plates at my gym. I'm thinking of having a go on them as it won't cost me anything extra and I need to tone up!

Northern Ireland is a wee bit too far for me to go!

Yeah Ali ask a instructor to show you a few moves and then you can be left to your own devices!! Its really goof - let me know how you both get on!

    Hi,

My mum bought one of these a few months ago to help with her weight loss plans. She has ME and is unable to do much exercise. But this powerplate has helped tone her muscles and is helping to build her core strength.

I have also used this everyday for 10 minutes and can really see the difference already. I find it particularly useful for targeting difficult to tone areas using the different hold positions whilst on the machine.

Good luck to those trying it ...

    Thanks Danni!

I had heard they could be good if you're not able to exercise much or are immobile (sp?). That's definately not the case with me, but I have bad circulation in my legs & hoped it would help with that as well as getting the flat tum back again. x

I'm enjoying the sound of these things - but can you get the same effect from sitting on a washing machine in various different positions?!?!

    ?

I've not tried the Powerplate machines but I've heard that they are very good. I think it would be best if you could go to one of the Powerplate classes that some of the gyms run to get a good variety of exercises and a 'whole body workout'.

I think for your £30 a month you might be better trying to join a gym that has Powerplates. That way you can use the plate and do some other stuff in the gym too so you don't get bored.

Just my opinion though - I'm a fitness instructor and teach Pilates classes part time so I guess I just prefer to be doing a variety of exercise in order to get fit ?

I use one a couple of times a week and I think they're fantastic! I've really noticed a difference. I get 12 sessions for £30 - one session is 10 mins and I usually have 2x10 mins twice a week.

For me they're ideal as I just haven't had time to get to any classes and I hate the gym with a passion. I originally started going to tone up for a work's Christmas party and thought I'd keep it up in the run up to the wedding.

Hi Gillsy, I totally see where your coming from & I honestly wish I could be as motivated as you!

I have been a member of the gym on several occasions though & it really doesn't work for me. I play badminton with a friend every week & have a dog so in that way I don't think I'll get too bored. Plus, I'm finding it really hard at the moment to fit everything into a day - so I guess I'm looking for an easy/less time consuming way to tone up. These sessions are 10 mins each & there is an instructor to help out/guide you...(apparently). I'm guna go tomorrow - so I'll see what it's like & report back!

    Thanks for the comments guys!x

I totally understand what you are saying about lack of time - I really struggle with that myself.

You are doing other stuff anyway which is good so give the plates a go and let us know how you get on.

Hi BonnieLass - my legs started toning up (and looking much slimmer) quite soon after starting to use it and then over the last month or so my waist and hip area are definitely slimmer. My old clothes feel more comfortable on and the dress I wore for the Christmas party seems to fit a little better than it did when I bought it - and to be honest I haven't even been watching what I eat. From what I understand, if you're following a sensible healthy eating plan at the same time it can be even more effective and there are a number of different positions you can use depending on what area you want to tone up.

    Hope that helps ?

I'm finding them quite good but does anyone else find if you use them too long they make you itch!

I now have further proof its working - went shopping yesterday afternoon for some work trousers and I can now get back into a size 8! I haven't been able to do that for a couple of years. I'm so chuffed ?.

3d jewellery - I remember the lady telling me that the itching is something to do with helping the circulation and cellulite. I must have a lot....lol.
