Accountant for Hedge Fund managers/Investment bods!

Kayl.....i'm ACCA qualified aswell and though the same as you re CTA! 3 years studying for ACCA was enough (and before that AAT) so I'm firmly in the camp of no more studying!

Nicnol, wow that is a serious job title if I ever saw one!

As I work in national training we regularly have Kaplan come in to deliver CTA training, just looking at the 55 million books they have to carry puts me off.. ?

I'm a teacher of EFL (English as a foreign language) and currently working in Kuwait. Best thing about my job is travelling to new and exciting places every couple of years but I guess I'll be giving that up when I become an old married woman.

I did my training at FTC aka now Kaplan. I looked online at CTA and then looked at pass rate and thought sod it! Thing is I don't want to be a tax adviser I'm just a little bit interested in tax!!

I should have put the Senior bit before job title and make it sound REALLY important!! Unfortunately not as interesting as it sounds I just get to see people making a shed load of money while I make sure the books balance ha ha!! x

Haha Nicnol - that sounds very serious! How you ever looked at your full title? With all your letters after your name? Makes me giggle!

I never did FTC, I am a BPP girl.

Spooky co-incidence number 3 - when we became friends on FB, one of my other friends recognised you as the solicitor that had done some work for his dad!

I think he said probate. But he's a friend of my OH and had the conversation with him - so there's an outside chance I might be wrong!

I could never get on at BPP....when I first started the lessons were two in a week then you wouldn't be back in for another 2 weeks!! I'm not disciplined enough to study in those "free" weeks....FTC was every Tuesday or Monday or whatever day and that was it....I knew where I was then!

When did you qualify? I sat my finals in Dec 07 results Feb 08 so nearly 3 years now! Certainly don't feel like it's been that long!! Love looking at the ACCA, and then another couple of years it will be FCCA and I'll sound really grown up haha!!

Wow I qualified at the same time as you - results 5:45 on that Monday morning.!

Went into work half hammered as we had champagne for breakfast (luckily my junior was driving and my client understood and was waiting to congratulate me!)

ETA: NO, I didn't........... It was a year later.......... heheheh

Also - did you do the degree scheme? Was very worth it for me as I skipped uni! Have a nice 1st degree in applied accounting on my CV too now from spending a few days on an essay..... ?

No I never done it......I was being lazy and couldn't be bothered!! Bit too late now but no worries it hasn't hindered me! I always think I will go back to uni when I'm older (and have enough moeny where I don't need to work) to finish the degree I started in civil engineering and never comleted (I left uni after a year as I was home sick and then ended up in accounting!!)

I'm a solicitor, and I currently work for a Charity covering someone's maternity leave,. I love my job, and am secretly gutted that she's coming back in January so I'll be unemployed again (although have 2nd interview fo a job I'd really, like next Friday, so fingers crossed I might not be out of work for too long!)?

I'm a barristers clerk. Love the job, it's completely different from anything I had done before and makes use of my law degree without me having to be a lawyer (which I only changed my mind about after doing an LPC but c'est la vie)
