Outfit for 1st day as Mrs?!

**Shelley**, 13 May, 2012 at 11:39 Posted on Planning 0 42

Just wondering what everyone will be wearing on their first day of being a Mrs? Will you be dressing up? I'd like a lovely dress to where to breakfast in the morning after the wedding and want to be looking radiant (hangover permitting!). Or do i save it for our honeymoon? So....please let me know what you're wearing, where you got it from and flash if you can!

Jeans ballet pumps and a T Shirt- no make up and my hair was huge from all the hairspray that had been put in it the day before!

    I was *very* hungover.

I got home from the venue and spent the day either laid on the sofa or with my head down the loo. Never let it be said I am not a class act.

You guys joke, but we have a big family breakfast planned for the following morning with the majority of our overseas guests, so I probably need a nice dress or outfit, too!

I know I'll be tired, but I'm not a huge drinker, so I'll hopefully not be too hungover. Either way, comfort will probably be key, so when I read this question, this dress I saw recently came to mind:

Something relaxed, yet so adorable. Though you could always go the route of toned down bridal-coloured summer dress, like:

We had breakfast on our own brought up to us to eat in our bedroom. We purposely chose a venue that only had overnight accomodation for the bride & groom so we could just be together on our own.

ETA: I dont like the first dress you flashed at all but the second one is nice.

I haven't thought about this, so will probably go for jeans and a top. I did go shopping yesterday, but that was for HM clothes.

    I think I'll be hanging too ?

Comfort will be key so probs just my usual jeans/t-shirt combo, maybe even joggers!! Might get a cheeky free vista tshirt with my new name on or something like that but certainly won't be dressing up!! Hopefully I'll have a tired but satisfied glow about me so I don't even have to bother with makeup ?

This is where fake tan comes in handy; no makeup necessary!

I want a nice girly white dress for breakfast the next morning. I've so far come across these,

I don't *need* any of them so haven't ordered anything yet, but that's the sort of thing Im thinking of. Some nice sandals and a little cardi, because I'll be all lovely golden and tanned lol!

The castle has accommodation for us and about 40 of our guests, and as my entire family will be flying back over to Canada and the states later that day we're opting to do the big breakfast in the castle dining room. It means a lot to me to be able to have a more relaxed meal with my family before they leave, as I'm sure I'll be running around every which way the previous evening and probably won't get a really good chance to talk to everyone.

I'm sure it would be amazing to just have the morning alone, though.. we'll just have to wait an extra day for the honeymoon!

Personally, being hopelessly wrapped up in traditional wedding stuff and the romanticism of it all, I think that your wedding is one of few times in a modern woman's life where she can really dress up, look stunning, and be the centre of attention. I'm definitely getting a 'going away' outift! When else do you get the chance to dress up again the day after a huge party?

My other half is shipping his family out from Australia, so I plan on having a get together (maybe brunch or even lunch would be better than breakfast!) the next day, and will def. be getting a nice dress for the occasion. When you can pick up lovely dresses for £15 from H&M or a bit more on ASOS why not? It's only a couple less cocktails on honeymoon.

All those white/ broderie anglais style dresses posted are gorgeous. Would def go for something like that and play on the white theme!

I'd not even considered this part... I do like that summery white dress that someone flashed though (sorry can't remember who it was!)

Haven't thought about this yet but not surprising with over 2 years to go ?

We'll be having breakfast with a lot of our family the next morning like venart!

Our venue has 30 rooms and I imagine most of them will be taken by our guests as the venue is an hour away from where we live.

Is it wrong that i am very tempted to wear a OnePiece? Ultimate comfort ?

This is on my 'to do' list too. We're having a big family/friends brunch the next day with all the people who will have travelled to spend the day with us. We're stopping at the venue again on the Sunday night so we can have our 'alone' morning on the Monday (after that it'll be back to having the kids wake us up at 6am every morning! ?)

Not really thought about this yet - we are having a family picnic the next day so need something more practical rather than another dress.

All of our family and a lot of friends are staying at the venue for the weekend as we have it to ourselves so we will be having breakfast together the next day.

I will be wearing my trusty vistaprint T.shirt with Mrs ******* printed on the front with jeans.

I'm having to think about this too. My parents are doing a BBQ the next day for family and those friends that have travelled down for the wedding.

Am I going to be able to cope with having to make an appearance the next day?!

We're having a big brunch before everyone goes their separate ways, so I did want to plan something. I have bought a dress like this, although am struggling for shoes at the moment.

I wore this dress with ivory flats and with cream pearly beads instead of red. We had a champagne breakfast at the hotel we had stayed at, and then when we got home we had our parents/sisters coming round to congratulate and bring cake/post box etc that had been left at the venue. We were really hung over though. As soon as they had all gone it was pj's and takeaway. I am glad I had something nice to put on though.

I have a pretty white broderie anglaise strappy sundress I bought last summer in Debenhams (we were meant to marry in March hence shopping well in advance). We will leave the wedding venue the morning after, so it will be my "going away outfit". Of course, we'll be abroad at the time, and I want sthg pretty for the day after our UK reception since we're having a bit of an "open house" for people who've travelled to the reception. Not sure what yet, but it's a great excuse to spend £££ on a pretty dress!

I shall probably do the same as JoJo. OH and I have t-shirts to wear on our honeymoon travelling day that we're tempted to wear down to breakfast with our guests the next day. Mine is just a Mrs Chegwidden one and OH has a Under New Management - Just Married one.

I do also like the idea of going down in a nice maxi dress though, or a 'casual' white/ivory/cream bridal dress....oh the decisions lol
