Over seas wedding?

Cheeky Chops, 15 June, 2008 at 14:45 Posted on Planning 0

My best friend is considering a wedding in Montego Bay. Has anyone done that? Been involved with a similar wedding?

What will be involved? How does it compare with a traditional wedding here in the uk?

Mr SP and I got wed abroad - it depends what your friend wants - overseas weddings can be as traditional as a UK wedding or as close to a 'local wedding' (which ours was!) as possible ..... not sure how its done in Montego Bay but I would imagine the hotels can advise on the options.... Personally I can't see the point in getting wed in some far flung location and it being just like you're in the UK but with sunshine! I've seen grooms sweating in the full on penguin suit in 90 degrees and brides in full on 20 layer dresses trying to climb on elephants! If your friends gets a chance to take a more local option, go for it - ours was amazing - we got wed in Zanzibar..... it was colourful, fun, noisy, vibrant and unforgettable. If they find a hotel that does it all for them its much easier as its likely to be a different legal set up to getting wed in the UK. We had to send out various legal documents but that was about it.
