Page boy question?

Emj85, 26 October, 2009 at 15:20 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone ? again

Mondays are boring but i was just looking at some sites and thought id post this rather random question:

Are any of you having a page boy/ring bearer? How old are they and if so do you know when they come in (ie before the bride or after) because im thinking of having my nephew and my mum is convinced he definitley do not go in front of the bride, she said nobody does but i thought they do.

Also do you think 2 is too young for a flower girl or page boy?

Thanks Emj xx

I had 1 of each both 7 a flowergirl and a pageboy/ring bearer 2 is not young for a flowergirl as long as you don't except them to be with you and walk down in other words they may not want what you want on the day.

They both walked in front of the bridesmaids so they would not stop ifyswim then I waited a went in behind them about a minute after.

Here is a picture of them both

We had a 7yr old and a 2yr old they went in before me with the bridesmaids but it's a personal choice wether or not they go in before or after.

Are you thinking of your own being a flower girl / page boy then?? Congratulations! (I saw your tickers are two years apart and making assumptions here!)

I am having a two year old flower girl so certainly don't think it too young.

ETA: We posted at the same time there!

I got married 5 years ago & had my son, who was 7 at the time, as our "ring bearer"

He walked in front of me when I came down the aisle with my dad & then he sat at the side of me & hubby until it was time to give the rings over.

    hth

    Debbie

    Hi!

We are having a page boy, and also 4 small girls (not sure if flower girl/s yet!) and to be honest, i had always assumed that pageboy and flower girl walked in front of bride, then bride & father, then bridesmaids (always thought that because they would fuss over dress etc...)

But your question got me thinking... and after a quick look online found this:

    https://www.brides.com/story/wedding-processional-order-guide
    Catholic wedding processional:
The priest, groom, and best man enter through a side door and wait at the altar.
The groomsmen and bridesmaids walk down in pairs, starting with the two who will stand farthest from the bride and groom, and ending with the best man and maid of honor.
The ring bearer and/or flower girl
The bride and her father, or other close family member. The bride walks on the left side. If the bride's escort is her father, he leads her to the front of the aisle, then takes his seat next to the bride's mother.

However, if i remember correctly, i *think* I have read somewhere that the traditions vary different between England & America, and a lot of american traditions are coming over here (ie the throwing of bouquet is American, not english), SO i might be thinking of the American order!?!

    Might help!?!

Hi Cherryblossom yeah that helps alot thankyou.

My mum said its the maid of honour directly behind the bride and her father (or in my case uncle/godfather) and the younger bridesmaids bring up the rear as they are the least important which i felt mean about but your way makes more sense and then the ones in last stand nearest the bride.

Thanks! I'll check with my vicar to be sure but that would make more sense. ? XX
