Pain in the ar$e centrepeices!

Allgold78, 19 January, 2011 at 12:48 Posted on Planning 0 13

Oh my god, these are getting on my nerves now. Finally found some tall vases we like, and the arrangement to go in them, and the plan was to have floralytes in the bottom but guess what - they don't fit down the bloody neck of the vase. How frustrating!!

Have you got any pics of the vases? They are hard to get intosome of the Lily vases as the neck narrows, usually with some manipulation they will go in there.

I got these vases from Dunelm:

I thought they'd be wide enough but they're not.

The other way to still be able to use the floralytes is to fill the vase with gel & then put the floralyte upside down at the top which will send the light down the vase.

Does that work? Wow. I'm going for something like this (I picked it off a thread a week or so ago) ?

    Would it work with that?

Yep it will still shine the light down through the gel. If you use less gel than needed & fill it with water as well it lets the light shine down through the whole of the vase.

So looking at your picture then, how far up the vase would I fill with gel?

If you fill it just up to the point where the vase starts to widen to the neck & then add water & stir it. Then place the floralyte on the top.

    Well it worked!! Ta daaaaa.......

I gave it a go, just with water cos I don't have any gel yet, and it looks great.

Another question Sherrie - how long do they last once turned on. Just thinking about the day when to switch them on??

They last at least 40hrs but obviously they gett dimmer as the batteries run down. I have had some still in the vases lit after a week!
