panic re the budget!

AuntieBJ, 31 October, 2013 at 13:34 Posted on Planning 0 7

So here I am, taking a quick look at the budget and the present credit card statement and really, really, really want to know just how much is in the wedding fund!!! The trouble is, its in one of those pots you can't open without breaking. I know that to pay off everything in time, I need to save £165 a month but that's without what I've already saved. I also know that having given up smoking, I can put a minimum of £100 a month extra away with ease. However, I'm worried about all those last minute costs that I am sure I will find I can't live without and will end up with me going over the budget. Reassure me ladies!! We can afford it, we will afford it and how do I ignore those little extras I don't need?!

If its the ceramic pot thingy, turn it upside down and use a knife and you can ease the coins out that way - not sure about paper money....

Sorry can't help you with the pot as we don't have one, we're just either paying off our credit card each month (16 months interest free on purchases) or saving money in my h2b's e-saver online, so we'll have cash for the suppliers we need to pay cash with too.

With the budget though, work out exactly how much you've got (if you can break your pot open!) and how much you can save until the date it needs to be paid off, then just stick to it rigourously! Jot down ALL your expenditure on a spreadsheet, even things as small as stamps! Keep a regular check on it so you'll know if you're nearing your limit.

This!! A palette knife works very well, doesn't help if you did what I did and put notes in as well as coins, you will only be able to get the coins out.

This, and perhaps get a pair of tweezers involved to get the notes out...

This, and if no palette knife and rulers is great too Smiley smile those pots are a real good idea until you want to get into it without actually breaking it!
