Paperwork for weddings?

chocolatepickle, 15 February, 2012 at 20:35 Posted on Planning 0 1

I'm getting married in about 8 weeks now, we're having a church wedding. Do we need to show anyone a birth certificate/ passport or anything? We've filled out the banns paperwork but havent been asked for anything else, I'm worried about getting to days before and finding I need to provide a birth certificate- which I dont have!

Thanks

I think you have to prove your identity, so we're having to provide our passports or driving licenses, and bills to show where we live. Don't think you need to give your birth certificate as they're not needed much these days!

It is an odd one I am not sure. My OH changed his name by deedpoll last year and the vicar has asked to see his deedpoll form but I have not been asked for anything - though I was christened in the church so I think they're going on that.

If you need a birth certificate though you can get a replica. I lost mine and so I just ordered a replacement one (for job purposes not wedding related). I think it cost about £15 and came within a week so it might be worth doing that if you are worried.
