Part 1 of my 101 guide for brides looking for a photographer

mariannechuaphotography, 29 March, 2013 at 00:53 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hey guys, some of you might know from a previous thread that I was looking to write a 3 part guide on getting a wedding photographer. Literally I'm trying to break everything down into (hopefully) something with all/most of the answers. Anyway here's part 1, it only covers the initial approach and search. Part 2 is going to be the really meaty bit with all the questions people usually ask bout consultations and what you can expect from a photographer and their contract yada yada

Let me know if there's any typos or if it just makes zero sense (I've been writing for a while now...)

This is great Marianne, I'm at this stage of planning as I have booked my venue but that's about it, so really helpful. Look forward to part 2 ?

This guide is great ? I wish that you'd written it last year when we were looking for a photographer! We found ours through the SWPP website so I don't know if this is also worth a mention under the "wedding supplier directories" section?

Marianne where on earth did you dig up that awful sample of traditional shot from - of course any bride seeing that is going to say oh my god there is no way I want traditional photos.

Lol don't worry at all it's fine, I'm fully aware that I'm not a great traditional photographer, I just wanted to show what a posed shot looks like vs. a candid one. Would you be interested in using one of yours as an example?

As the photographer has been identified I will not comment any more on the image in that case

Honestly Bill it's fine, I'm not touchy about my work, I know I have a lot of things to learn and what I can and can't do so there's no need to be tactile! I will probably add a disclaimer that it's not a truely traditional style, just an example of a posed shot (so people aren't put off traditional wedding photography :p)

    Great work Marianne!

Having just looked at Bills website The saying 'people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones' certainly springs to mind ?
