Party Playlist

Karen84, 8 January, 2016 at 21:26 Posted on Planning 0 9

We have finally started to put together our list for the DJ but now we've drawn a bit of blank. What are your party tunes that are guaranteed to get you up on the dance floor?

Personally Saturday Night and Macarena. Cheddar cheese, but each to their own!

We are planning a list of 'our songs', and then letting the DJ take inspiration / free spirit to keep people dancing. I went to a wedding where the music was heavily controlled by the bride and the dance floor was practically empty all night.

'Jump Around' by House of Pain - there's only one dance move for this song and everybody knows it!

'Gangnam Style' by PSY. Hopefully your guests will know the dance moves.

Boyband stuff from the 90s - NSync, Backstreet Boys, Five.

For girl bands, my guilty pleasures are 'Something kinda ooh' by Girls Aloud and 'Don't cha' by Pussyfoot Dolls.

For more recent songs, something by Pharrell e.g. 'Get Lucky' or 'Happy'.

    HTH.

Totally agree with this! I few drinks in me and I'd be dancing to everything on this list!

I'll also be up dancing for stuff like Bon Jovi and similar 80s rock bands. The last wedding I went to I spent all night dancing to this stuff and had a great time, even though it's not the type of stuff I listen to at home.

    Hi

I wouldn't worry too much if you can't think of any dance floor fillers. As a DJ myself, requests for play list ideas are more to make sure that any particular favourite tracks / genres / artists of the B&G are included, rather than inspiration for getting everyone up dancing. If your DJ is good and with lots of experience (I'm sure they are!) they will know exactly what to play for a busy dance floor and a fantastic evening!

Personally any 90's cheese. (Okay any decade of cheese) Some Wham, Earth, Wind & Fire, Backstreet boys. Also the classics, Run DMC, Dire Straits, Queen.

If you are struggling I would suggest a few 60's and 70's, like Lulu Shout for example, because all the older guests will know it, and the younger ones too. Likewise who doesn't know the words to Bohemiam Rhapsody? Definitely don't have it just one decade, may even be worth finding out what modern tunes some of the older guests know and like. My best mate's wedding, they wanted more soft rock as that was what they liked, but no one was dancing, soon as cotton eye got played, everyone was up, and the DJ then went from there.

If you haven't sent out your invites yet, you could ask each guest to select a song! That way, you know there's a song your guests want to hear Smiley smile https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/304555993526964258/

Songs I quite like are Bruno Mars - Marry you, Crazy in Love - Beyonce, Uptown funk - Bruno Mars/Mark Ronson, Timber - Pitbull / Kesha. Those are the ones on my playlist already but I'm still building it.

    Hope that helps! Smiley smile

I was going to suggest this - it's what we're planning on doing Smiley smile

Otherwise... some good cheesy songs (barbie girl by aqua would definitely make the list for me!) and some really good classics (Bohemian Rhapsody would probably go down well once everyone is good and tipsy)

    xx
