Pashmina - Very cheap so what do you think?

The Sock Chicken, 28 February, 2010 at 20:42 Posted on Planning 0 25

I was thinking earlier about whether I need to get something for my bridesmaids to cover up with should it get cool in the evening. I have been looking in Debenhams but so expensive. But then I see these on ebay and wondered if they perhaps were too cheap. Also what does viscose feel like?

Any thoughts, or maybe for £2.39 it's worth ordering one just to find out?

WSS! They look like a great idea. I might even order one myself. I don't think it overly matters even if they aren't fantastic quality - if they look ok and are good for keeping fairly warm, they should do for a few hours in 1 night.

I've ordered myself a black one to see the quality, we're getting married in October so my BM's and FG's will need something to keep the chill off, great spot of bargain hunting Zippy!

When I wanted a pashmina I went to my local Asian mateirial store and picked up some incredible embroidered ones with delicate sequins in wool for £5 each, they had plain ones as well. IF you don't like what you get from ebay, may be you could try those shops.

I saw this online and thought it would be perfect to do for our wedding as we're early april in the evening and it will get cold - to have about 30 (!!) in our colour scheme - but I hadn't managed to find ones cheep enough - I have to say these are the cheapest I've seen so I may consider it now - ours will be in teal, turquoise, lime green and yellow - I think it'll look fab but need to convince OH its worth the expense....

Sorry, dragging up this thread again to ask whether you recommended doing the above for guests as my wedding is in January and then I see this! I already have 12 blue umbrellas for guests to use for photos/smoking area and I think I am going to get 12 or so of these. Hopefully everyone will share nicely!

Good point about the numbers Laura - I was a bit worried spending so much but actually not everyone has to have one - some people will have their own or jackets etc.

I just bought 20 (!) in my colours - Teal, turquoise, lime green and yellow.

Zippy they should give you commission - what's your ebay name I think we should write to them it was recommended by you - you may get a freebie....

Sorry to hijack the thread, but just wondering where you got your brollies from? Not sure about pashminas - it's a sweet idea and I love the pics and thought, but I'm hoping that my guests are savvy enough to work out that Scotland is freezing all year round so a jacket/shawl is a must!

I would be tempted to go for cream! Im having my BMs in a similar colour and Im going to get some kind of cream wrap or shrug for them and for me. I thought in cream they could get wear out of it again with a black dress ect.

I am hoping the same Tango- also I dont think all of my guests will be outside at the same time mostly so once they have used one they can put it back for others to use- do you think thats ok? And then at the end of the night people can just take one if they want, I dont mind really. Also your colours are going to look amazing!

I managed to get my umbrellas on bay of e- not brilliant quality but the right colour and they do the job for the day/night really and I think thats all that matters. I got 12 for £10 (bidded) but otherwise I am not sure I would have gone to the expense as it could work out quite alot. Then I have bought a big white wicker basket for it all to go in.

I know its extra expense but I just dont want people to say 'Oh Laura's wedding, yeah I was freezing and wet all night!' and I do have alot of smoker friends and family unfortunately. I also thought only 12 of everything might limit the amount of people out at one time! Hehe
