I thought you could only do it up to 3 months before your wedding date for it to be valid in your new name, and you have to get registrar to sign a form.

You can get a form to fill in from the passport office website. Then you get your registrar to sign it, you send it off and your new passport becomes valid after your wedding.

I think (I may be wrong) you can only get it signed 3 months before the wedding, I know that's what I'm having to do. It doesn't matter if your previous passport is expired, I enquired with the passport office as mine will be out early this year and we are getting married in Sept.

It's quite exciting filling in the form in your married name!

    HTH.

    Another question.

I have ages left on my passport so when we booked our honeymoon, she said just leave the booking in your maiden name and then it won't matter. But will it still be valid and would we still be classed as "honeymooners" if you get me.

If you do change to your married name, you'll have to book your honeymoon in your married name too.

You can get your passport amended before the wedding, but remember, you cant use it for ID purposes, and what are your plans for your hen party/weekend. If you are thinking of going overseas for the weekend, then you will need to keep it in your maiden name. If you have already booked your honeymoon, what name did you use to book it in? The tour operator is likely to charge an amendment fee, if you do need to change the name. I am going to leave mine until after the wedding, one less thing to organise! ax
