Passport for honeymoon

Kentish Gal, 25 October, 2012 at 21:10 Posted on Planning 0 3

I know it used to be possible, confess I haven't researched, am just at airport about to go on hols.

I want to have a passport with my married name on for the honeymoon. Our wedding is 6th July, honeymoon is 8th, HOWEVER the legal ceremony is June 28th (our ceremony is a humanist one).

Can I, and if so how, have my married surname on my new passport prior to the wedding?

Thanks!

You can if you get your registrar to sign a document, the passport can be issued before the wedding but can't be used until after, not sure of the ins and outs, I'm not doing it though just on the off chance it doesn't come back in time, also you have to pay the full price for a new passport even if you have a while left on yours, so just going to use mine til it runs out!

You can, not sure how much in advance you can do it. You will lose time on it though.

Personally I didn't bother, I still have about 5 years left on mine and didn't see the point, and it costs. As long as your tickets are booked in whichever name is on your passport.

I've just done mine, you can order it 3months before wedding day! It costs the same as a renewal passport! I got the priest to sign the form & filled in the replacement form! Should be with me in 2 weeks, I can order my American visa until after the wedding though as the passport is postdated!

Thanks for the info ladies!! I just touched down in Iceland, my passport expires in March and at end March we're off to New York so I will be starting a 10 yr passport and immediately applying again!! Seems weird but I'm keeping my surname and taking his too and a passport is the easiest way to settle any confusion I know there will be, so I think it's worth the money for me... and it's kinda romantic to have it all 'official' in time for the honeymoon. I'm going to do it, I reckon!
