People from Nowich, have you heard of this store?

lady_lyla, 25 April, 2012 at 10:53 Posted on Planning 0 6

Have any of you heard of Prima Donna Bridal?

They just emailed me and said they stock the Justin Alexander dress I want and would knock off the VAT which brings it down from £1360 to £1080, that I could pay £150 deposit and then £150 in instalments and that they’re ship it to me for free… sounds a bit too good to be true?!

I brought my dress in Plymouth but I did recieve an email from the store today stating they had a Justin Alexander event which is something like 20% off dresses. I already brought a Maggie Sottero from them but I wonder if Justin Alexander have a offer on at the moment?

Yes I'm from Norwich and that shop is where I found my dress. Ok I got it elsewhere in the end but they were nice enough!

I could go in and check the dress over for you next week if you'd like? I'm off to Dorset this weekend, but could pop in one lunchtime next week. I have a very keen eye for imperfections! They didn't let me take pictures last time, although it might be different if you are actually buying the dress.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Aw Ducky that would be lovely but I've already seen the dress - I'm just wary of putting a deposit down if the shop seems dodgy incase they go bust

Oh ok. Well I could go and ask them if they think they will go bust any time soon?! Lol. They aren't a chain, it's a Mum and Daughter team and they also own the bridesmaids and occasion wear shop next door. It's been there since the castle mall opened about 15 years ago. I know going bust is always a risk, but if you have wedding insurance before you put the deposit down, IF they go bust you should get your money back. Plus remember any shop can go bust, whether it is local or not! Personally I don't think Norwich has suffered as much as other areas of the country during the recession because it's the main shopping city for such a large area. Look on a map, the nearest cities are London and Cambridge which are ages away! It's not like the midlands where lots of cities are all near each other and it's easy for people to choose Birmingham for shopping over their local city.

But let me know if there IS anything I can do.

Thank you - I'm going to look into it and have a think - I don't want to put anything down on a dress until after my holiday so will drop them an email reply Smiley winking

    Hi there

I got married on Easter Sunday here in Norwich. And yes I know the shop. It sounds like a good offer if they'll give you that much off your dress! However, I found the store a bit snotty to be honest. I approached them at a wedding fair asking about when to order a dress and alterations if I planned to lose weight etc. I was a bit surprised that got questions about my weight do I lose weight quickly etc which made me feel quite bad to be honest. They weren't exactly tactful. I was not exactly encouraged to go into the store. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited them to compare dresses with another store. But they had little in my size and told to come back in two weeks whenthe Sincerity plus size range was due in. Maybe they were trying to be helpful but it didnt creat the best impression. A bride wants to feel good when they by their dress! Needless to say I didn't buy my dress from there. I reckon if they give you a good deal its worth it but I can't comment on their service after you have bought your dress. I expect they'll be happy to deal with you if your slim rather than curvy. I went to Pure who were lovely and they stock Maggie dresses which I wanted.
