I had a moment's fear about the respectability of my perfume after musings (by me) on a different thread ? and was moved to google some reviews - something i'd never done before. Do other people look at reviews on sites like basenotes.net (I just found a review of mine on there, I assume there are others of the same type) before they buy, or do you do as I do and go out for a good old sniff? plus an eventual squirt to see if it suits once the first test is passed?

So what do you wear, how did you choose it, and what do you think about it?

I'll start off. My perfume of choice is 24, Faubourg by Hermes. I first bought it before I got married when I was 22. It has something slightly restrained about it while being very obviously present which I felt reflected my personality ?. I also liked the fact it had orange blossom in it and I first wore it (not counting trials, of course ?) to my wedding. According to some people on basenotes, it's a bit of a 'grand dame' scent and not suitable for the under 35s. oh well ?

I still like it. Before that I used to wear Flore by Carolina Herera, and I have a Clarins thing - Eau Resourcante (sp?) for days when I want to feel calmed and particularly clean-smelling. I wore it all the time when I was almost made redundant a few years ago, it's surprising how much a sniff of one's own wrists can help you get through the day...

I love Lancome Miracle and YSL cinema.

I bought Moschino I love love and Versace Bright Crystal in the sales, they are a bit lighter and younger for everyday use I think.

My absolute favourite is still Giorgio Beverley Hills as it reminds me of being a teenager!

Having an H who travels a lot I've got a lot of perfume. A lot I rarely wear, probably only when I open the drawer and decide to opt for something different. I have an odd sense of smell and can often smell the chemicals in perfume but not smell the other parts to the fragrance.

My favouritest, worn most often but always when I go out or meet my oldest mate (I've only ever worn that when I'm with him so he associates the smell with me) is Calyx by Prescriptives.

DK Be Delicious- an everyday fave. Bought for me the weekend my H came back from USA and my daughter was conceived!!

Calvin Klein Truth- for everyday. Bought by a friend when, one year, I offered to work her New Years Eve shift.

Estee Lauder Pleasures. I love this but it makes me sneeze!

Davidoff Cool Water. Not sure on this, have a small bottle that lives in my locker, use it when I see it or I need to get rid of nasty work niffs!!

J Lo- Glow. I have bottles and bottles of this (sometimes H lacks imagination/memory) however I don't mind as I love the clean, soapy smell of it. I probably wear this more than any other.

I also have other J Lo fragrances that I can't remember the names of and fit into the rarely worn category along with- Miracle, Tommy (or Tommy Girl) another Lancome one I can't recall and I think I must have another Estee Lauder.

I tried the new Estee Lauder- Sensuous- today and liked it a lot. I would also quite like something a bit more musky/exotic/spicy for Winter nights, possibly Cinnabar which my mum likes.

I wear J'adore by Lancome during the day and Chanel Allure for going out. There is something special about putting on your favourite perfume. I feel 'naked' without it.

I have never used a perfume review site before (never knew such thing even existed) but I think I will do from now on as I can see how it can be quite useful, although ultimately I will let my nose guide me as like others have said, it is such a personal thing.

I love perfume and have quite a large selection to choose from on my dresser but my tried and tested favourites are my Agent Provocateur's, both the pink and the Maitresse.

I got a bottle of Marc Jacob's Daisy for Christmas (two name just one), which is lovely and fresh and I wore Vera Wang on my wedding day but my absolute favourite just has to be my Gucci Eau de Parfum, I do tend to wear it more of an evening but when ever I do, I just feel so spoilt!

Incidentally, I love some of the rights up it got on that review site. To quote just one:

"Gucci Eau de Parfum is just sublime. It is a luminous scent that reminds me of heavy-lidded bedroom eyes, dirty thoughts and regretful morning-afters. (in a good way) The most important thing is, this scent is extremely luscious and it has a addictive drug like feeling. It is dark, or makes me feel dark."

I couldn't have put it better my self ?

I really love Aveda perfumes- my current favorite being no4. You can buy shower gel shampoo etc to match. The perfume is quite pricey for a small bottle, but i have found some on ebay at a fraction of the store price Smiley smile

I also wear Coco M by chanel in the body milk mist, Clarins Eau Ressourcante deodrant spray.

Back in the 80's/90's i use to wear Paris, Tresor and Chanel no19.

The only perfume I have at the moment is Boss Intense, which I love. I really like Fuel for Life Unlimited too, but H really doesn't and I'm not really up for wearing a perfume that repells him! ?

Summer perfumes: Armani White and D&G Light Blue (light, citrus, fresh)

Winter perfume: Gucci Rush2 (love this one and will occasionaly wear it going out as well)

Going out perfume: D&G By (very sexy)

I was given 9 mini bottles of Jo Malone for Christmas and am looking forward to trying them out. I imagine they will fall under summer perfumes.

I’ve got a few on the go Clinique happy heart, DKNY delicious, RL romance, lancome oui and H got me coco mamzelle for Christmas

For work I generally wear Gucci envy, rush2. I can’t stand anything jasmine based as it gives me major headaches and the woman I sit next to at work alternates some hideous jasmine thing with horrid body sprays that she uses like air freshener
