Personal wedding website

mustard_mitt, 1 January, 2014 at 19:19 Posted on Planning 0 8

I'm thinking of buying a domain which we can use for the wedding and in our future lives together and creating a site for the wedding, which will eventually be archived into a general family site.

Plan is, any email RSVPs can go to a desginated email address for the wedding rather than private email addresses. I also really like the idea of a mailing list, to announce things such as bridesmaids, ushers and landmark milestones, such as dress bought etc.

Has anyone else on here created a website for your wedding?

I haven't but I've designed a couple in the past (my professional career has also been spent as a web designer / developer!)

Its a great idea to set one up, and you could quite easily build it in Wordpress and install plugins to handle the functions you want.

I guess it depends on your budget really with what you could set up

    Yep, we did exactly that.

We bought www.(our names).co.uk and OH designed a site from wordpress which does almost everything you described. The only thing we haven't done is te milestones & mail outs.

It has been really handy to automatically be sent an email when someone RSVPs and to easily give everyone all the info. We'll then upload pics on to there after the wedding.

    Hi There,

Ive created one on gettingmarried.co.uk. You literally have your names in front of this domain. Its dead easy and free.

You can also add the RSVPs with a password and also the bridemaid/grooms party info.

    Hope that helps

That's a great idea, I didn't think to use WordPress!

I like the idea of the free wedding site but I want a website to keep as a family site post ceremony, so the WordPress idea is a great one - thanks lovelaurajane ?
