pet hates

rachd03, 16 January, 2013 at 13:55 Posted on Planning 0 17

I dont know if this is a random or regular occurrence but I have had several suppliers email me in the past few days but addressing it to names other than mine. Baffled me a little bit as it just made it clear they had copied and pasted the same email content. I understand they have a lot of people to contact but surely it doesnt take long to check a name, or just not include on! It screams unproffesionalism to me. Safe to say they were struck off the potential supplier list!! haha

Has anyone else experienced this? Also, have you discovered any pet hates when dealing with people in relation to your wedding?

xx

Nothing to do with weddings, but last year, in my daughter's school report, the head teacher's bit called her by a class mate's name! Was NOT impressed lol

It's not hard to make sure you've got the names right ☹️

    Same with my name Sara.

    I'm Stacey with an E.

Not Stacy, or even Stacie, and don't get me started on people calling me Tracy. Grr.

Wedding wise, biggest pet hate has to be replies that take aaaaaages to come back. They get crossed off potential lists as three weeks for a reply to an email is pants.
I'm also erked by the tone of people assuming I will be producing children as soon as I'm married. (After years of 'when are we buying a hat for your wedding then?' type comments)

I agree - I HATE it when people spell my name wrong (I'm Rachael not Rachel - I know this is a more uncommon way of spelling it but that's how it is so deal with it!). I also agree that delayed responses are a massive annoyance - it's 2013 not 1993: most people have a smart phone of some description and so have almost constant access to email. No excuses!

I am with you on this one but its Rachel not RachAel. I have the same with the surname, I always say Davies with an 'e'!!

The delayed response is also v annoying. Although I have to say I have also been impressed with the speed of some responses aswell xx

My only delayed response issue at the moment is the vicar! Bit of a worry as it's kind of the main event... I've handed it over to the man to chase now, maybe he'll respond to him ?

Usually yes, I would strike him off, but he kind of has the monopoly on this bit.

To be honest it doesn't really bother me, im used to a lifetime of Caffie, Cathy, Kassy, Cass .... my name is Cassie. I do correct them when a mistake is made but i wouldnt discount a supplier because of an honest mistake or oversight, personally.

edit to add unless they were determined to get it wrong on several occasions!

It's not hard to look at a name and get it right. Copy and paste it if it helps ?

One thing I always do is reply very quickly. I also have my emails come to my phone, so if I am out and will be a while, I will also let the couple know this. I think this is due to me liking quick responses.

We had a venue that got our names wrong but decided to go and see it anyway and then when we got there the lady who was supposed to show us around was not there and no-one else could help or give us any information so it was a wasted trip really but I thought well these things happen but when i got a further email with our names wrong they were just crossed off the list.

For some reason people like to spell and pronounce my name as "Chau" even though Chua is the 4th most common Chinese surname and Chau really isn't. This will sound awful but I really think it's because they pronounce it/remember it as "Chow" as in "Chow Mein" lol

I also get extremely frustrated with lack of response. I want to deal with people who I know can be counted on.

As well, like others we had issues with venues - making appointments and having someone who has nothing to do with weddings being the person showing us around, arriving and knowing they crossed you off as a potential client right away (for the record we did have the budget to have the wedding there without an issue). We crossed both places off right away because we couldnt bother to spend our money at places like that

I wouldnt discount them for misspelling my name (unless it was a repeat offender). But sending me emails saying hi Victoria when my name is Rachel takes it to a whole new level!!!

My thinking is, if they cant make any effort to get the business in the first place, how much effort will they put in when they actually get it? if that makes sense!

    xx

Suppliers who you don't use annoy me. Being contacted a couple of times as a follow up is fine. But stop harrasing me several times when I'm clearly not using you

When we were sending emails to potential venues - i received an email saying

"Dear Miss Goldfish, thank you for your recent enquiry"

    Errrrrmmm it's GOLDSMITH!

    Imagine that ceremony!! haha!
