We adopted a cat on Saturday from Bredhurst Cats Protection, amazing place. She's called Silky and is 4, and has settled in perfectly! She was mauled by a dog as a kitten and broke her pelvis and rear hip so can't curl up, she has to lay out her back legs all the time. But she is the most loving, trusting girl and is very playful! Plus she's a little cutie... [Edited to add a photo of Silky cuddling H's hand as he stroked her... aww!]

Also, the other love of my life is my Mum's cat, who I've missed so much since moving out a couple of months ago. he was also a rescue cat and after having him for a couple of weeks, he attacked his own tail due to stress and had to have it removed. We've had him for 6 years so far and he's the happiest cat, although he does act like a grumpy old man at times!

Flash me yours!

I'm not allowed pets where we are at the moment. When we move we are getting a flat that allows pets as we definitely want a little cat.

If you do you should adopt one that is FIV+. There are so many at rescue centres all over the country, and as they are FIV they are overlooked as you can't let them outside, they have to be indoor pets. They are perfect for people living in a flat!

Thanks for the tip, Natalie! I have no idea where our local rescue centre is in Copenhagen but I'll find it. Hopefully they don't have any weird policies regarding that! I really want to get a rescue cat but OH wants a kitten. Maybe we can get both if I pitch it well enough ?

They have loads of kittens there too, I'd definitely suggest looking into it. There's so many unwanted animals around and people carry on breeding them!

That's what I said to P about kittens! I would so much rather get a rescue cat. My friend has gotten three cats from Battersea and her husband has had to put his put down now - every time she goes on the website she falls in love with another cat and they'll run out room soon!
