Photo booths opinions needed.

kimberleylorimer@hotmail.co.uk, 31 March, 2015 at 15:31 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello,

I am having a huge dilemma on whether or not to have a photo booth at the evening reception of our wedding. Originally I loved the idea as did my H2B however, I have heard mixed reviews. My biggest fear is that people will be to interested in the photo booth and I will end up with an empty dance floor. What are peoples thoughts on having a photo booth? If you've had one at your wedding did you find people were more interested in the photo booth than dancing?

Please help a confused bride to be out

I've been to one wedding that had one, and unfortunately people were mostly at the booth. They loved it though! Maybe you could have one for just part of the night?

Our photo booth is being supplied by the same person who is doing the disco (he supplies all sorts, confetti cannons etc) so as he said to us its in his best interest as the supplier to get people up dancing and using the photo booth.

I would be more concerned that people would over use the photo booth and not get up dancing!

At Saturdays wedding there was a photo booth and I don't think it stopped people from dancing, the dance floor was going well, in fact I don't think I have ever seen a empty dance floor when there has been a photo booth as well.

We have decided on a middle way. Our photographer is amazing and is with someone all day long including reception, so we are getting a few props to scatter round the venue and tables and instruct the second photographer to have an hour encouraging people to pose for him with them. A little later in the eve when people have had a few tots Smiley winking

Out tog did our photobooth and it went down so well. We didn't have a masive wedding, there was about 70-80 during the evening and we didn't once have an empty dancefloor and the booth still had plenty of use. We got some brilliant pics from it, so pleased we decided to have one.

Thanks everyone. I think I am leaning towards having one. I do love the pictures you get from them.

We've seen it go all ways really, so it's something that'll really depend on your guests.

Sometimes people can favour the photo booth over the dance floor and it can end up a little empty on the dancing front- but usually that happens when the booth is tucked away somewhere away from the dance floor. When they're closeish, it's not usually much of a problem. That said, even weddings with no photo booths sometimes have empty dance floors and some with them have loads of dancing. Definitely depends on your crowd ?
