Photograph &tog

jesikab4u, 1 September, 2015 at 20:52 Posted on Planning 0 4

So yesterday we had our pre wedding shoot, it was fab and she was fab!! I can't wait to see the pictures of this!

When we saw our tog, she asked us to send over a detailed list of pictures. To what extent of detail should you give them? Every picture you would like and how you would like it? or a pretty basic list of what you would like and when? Or a basic list and in depth of special pictures you really don't want to miss?

i don't want to look like a right organised freak if I don't need to be, nor do I want to look like I'm not bothered if that makes any sense lol.

thanks :-)

I would make a list of essentials e.g. 'bride and mum,' 'groom and ushers,' 'cake cutting' etc. Do bear in mind though that some TOGs don't bother with the list on the day (ours didn't and I'm still quite annoyed he missed some essentials e.g. there's none of my husband's Nana and she's pretty much going to die soon so we really wanted some with her). If you have a BM or usher who could make sure your TOG uses the list on the day hopefully you won't have the same problem.

    Each photographer is different.

    Ask them for clarification. ?

I think you need to ask them what they need. My clients only submit a list of around 10 required group photos so I can make sure those are correct.

I often ask if there is anything special that needs to be photographed too, eg a family heirloom. If you supply the photographer a full list of essential shots then you may find your finished photos are largely about that list, not about the natural moments of the day.

I have arranged with my TOG that I will send her a "must haves' list and a 'would like to have' list. We are going to be quite short on time and I would like to have mostly natural pictures so don't want to spend ages getting every possible combination. we have about 8-10 on the 'must haves' list.

So glad to hear you had a great engagement shoot! I would ask her too, I'm sure she won't mind! Personally, we offer reportage style, where you trust the photographer to document the day as it happens, and only ask for a short list of 'must have' group shots. That way, you get all the natural moments and atmosphere that make your day so magical! Good luck x
