Photographer (Essex)

Try this photographer - www.photographybyriddell.co.uk he's Herts based, but if you look at his wedding blog, he does masses of weddings in Essex.

I remember when I booked him he told me he shoots for Essex Life magazine as well.

Hi there, we are getting married in SOuthend and we are using Paul's Studio who are based in Southen Victoria Plazza based on a reccamendation from our wedding reception venue. We had our 'engagement shoot' thee a couple of weeks ago and went back to look at the pics last weekend and we were really pleased with them.

I'd be very wary about recommendations from people who have not actually received a service yet. SGreen recommends her photographers on a regular basis but as far as I am aware has never revealed her wedding date. There are photographers masquerading as Brides on all wedding forums, SGreen may or may not be one but the comments they have made on photographers lead me to have my suspicions. I'd recommend you look for recommendations from people who can share photographs from their actual weddings, they will also be able to comment on how the photographers were on the day and the aftercare they received, which is really important. Alternatively other HIB photographers may know of photographers in the area they would be happy to recommend based on professional knowledge or some HIBS will be upfront and recommend themselves - these you have to judge for yourself.

Hello! I am going to be one of the upfront ones and recommend myself more than happy to travel to essex I am based in Brixton! If not I can link you to some good websites with plenty of other choice as well check out the suppliers on here Recommendation is great but also making sure that you meet with a few photographers before making a decision and that you are comfortable with them and love their work!

I would never "recommend" myself, although please take a look at my website to see if my style suits what you are after.

Just a quick note, and hope this doesn't upset anyone, but my brother had Paul's Studio for his wedding and we were very disappointed. Firstly, one thing my mum had really wanted was some photos of her with her son on his wedding day - they were supposed to come to their house on the way to the church, but never showed up and didn't make any time else where in the day to get those shots. Secondly, when the photos came back, it was clear that the photographer had only bothered taking pictures of those people he thought were attractive - for example, as sister of the groom, I was only in the one posed family shot at the church, otherwise I might not have been there at all!

Clearly, everyone has good days and bad days, and I'm sure there are people who have used these guys and been really pleased, but it would be worth making sure you are very clear on what you expect.
