It might be worth asking at your local college/university. They'll probably have photography students who would like to add to their portfolio.

Sorry to hear your partner lost their job.

3 days is a big commitment for one person to give up their time for free for, you may have more luck choosing a day out of the celebrations try putting an add in your local photography college.

Agreed with Funky, you might want to open it up to be flexible in terms of number of photographers and what hours they do to make it more appealing. For a start an Asian wedding often will need two photographers so finding one person to do it for free for 3 days is a stretch. Might also be worth offering travel expenses. Thinking about it I do actually have a friend who said I quote "wants to photograph an Asian wedding so bad I'd probably do it for free right now" lol but not sure he's in your area.

I would be willing to pay a certain amount max £150 I don't think I can stretch any more than that. There will be food and drink for them too. I could pay the travel expenses but I don't think I could do more than £150.

    I've an idea.

Asian Weddings are usually pretty private things.

There aren't many photos out there. An angle could be that the tog can use the images however they like. i.e. Selling them via stock agency for profit.

That's one angle. It's a three day asian wedding worth 5 UK weddings in terms of attendance and if fully processed 3 weeks editing. It's like asking someone to work for you, for a month, for pennies. If you don't pay them they might decide it's not for them and not turn up on day 2.

It's a truly massive job, and even those willing to build their portfolio would rather bag 5 free uk weddings because of the diversity.

I hope you get it sorted, really I do as it's a worry you don't need so close to the day.

Unfortunately there isn't a 'Like' button on Hitched, otherwise I'd hit it. If you knock me up a coffee, Chris, I'll bring some cake.

Errrr, if someone asked you to do your job for free for three days, would you?!

Sorry to hear you are in this position but I think a student or similar will be your only option.

Did you already have a photographer arranged who now can't do it as there is no budget? Its very short notice to find someone whether they are free of charge or not. You could try a college but asi ts holiday time you may struggle. Have you asked your videographer (assuming you're having one) whether they know of anyone?

I second/third/fourth what others have said about asking a college and seeing whether someone there wants to do something free for their coursework.

Unfortunately I think you will struggle to get someone to do photography for three days without any cost applying considering the cheapest tog I'm aware of is £500 a day (and that's to build a portfolio) but they're usually around the £1500 mark per day.

I agree it is sad but can't family help you out at all?... And to ask for a freebie is a bit of a cheek really , it's 3 days worth of equipment usage and processing on top, my wedding budget is tight, so tight we don't know whether to save for the next two years or just do it and tell people after.

Sorry if I sound a bit off but I just find it a bit of a cheek really ...

Not sure I agree with this entirely. We asked a similar question and have managed to find someone prepared to do it for free as they are setting up a new business, we will cover expenses and will no doubt end up giving them something on the day. The photographers aren't under any obligation to agree to such a request. However, I do think that asking for someone to work for 3 days for free on one of the busiest wedding weekends of the year is pretty unrealistic. I certainly can't imagine that any of the better ones would still be available.
