photographer help please!

vickyg1302, 22 April, 2015 at 12:58 Posted on Planning 0 5

We're getting married next June and have been quoted 900 for an all day photographer. Had a quick scout around and all seem to be more, is this a good price and what should I expect him to include? Thanks in advance!!

Min 8 hours with DVD of all the images but then that is cheap but it depends on the date/day of week/month/year and so many other factors, make sure you see some full weddings or at least 200-300 photos from each wedding, if you want me to have a look then drop me an email ********@************.**.** ?

It always depends on the photographer, approach, style, experience, availability... for this price I would expect the digital images (no albums, prints etc.) and not 'all-day' coverage... To have an idea, in my case all-day coverage (up to 8 hours) starts at £1299 including the high resolution digital files, an engagement session. a photo slide-show, a personal wedding website with an online gallery and £100 credit for prints, albums, frames, or canvases.

Thank you both ☺ it's a sunday next June. I think that's counted as a peak day but apparently that covers arriving while I'm getting ready and staying until first dance. I'm hoping to meet him and have a proper look through his pics x

Just one little point... you say you're going to meet him to have a proper look. That's not really the best thing to do first. Ask him for three online gallery passwords for weddings similar to yours, eg similar time of year or venue. Then take your time to look through those full sets. If you love them then book the client meeting.

There isn't really time in a client meeting to go into a photographers portfolio in enough depth.

I'm paying £2000 for my photographer, which i know is a lot of money.

However, the pictures tell the most important story and, in my opinion, are a priceless investment. I did research for a very long time before finding the perfect photographer who's pictures were the exact style i had hoped for.

I'd have a good look around before committing to anything Smiley smile

As has been pointed out by Bruce and Paula, when you say meet for a "proper look". The proper look should be 2 or 3 whole or as near as whole weddings, you should be able to ask for passwords to see real weddings online, and for an ultimate test you tell them which ones you would like to see. If they are a local photographer then most likely they would of worked at your venue before so you need to see that whole wedding. You can do all this online before you meet and take as long as you like looking at them, then if you are still interested then by all means go and see them but remember that those photos you will then see have been hand picked from the best of the best.

Because I stay close for Leicestershire weddings by the time I meet someone they have seen so much of my work and at their venue and at the same time of year, a meet if they still want one is usually just to poke me and make sure I am actually a real person
