Photographer recommendations??!

gembo_8, 14 October, 2012 at 18:32 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi everyone

We thought we had ours nailed on, but turns out not - so back to the drawing board!

So - we are looking for something for £1K tops. Looking for something non- traditional, story telling type photography

Any suggestions within this budget is much appreciated!!

xx

What area are you based in?

Most photographers will travel, but it's always nice to give local recommendations where possible Smiley smile

Hello our tog is covering our wedding in Rivington, Horwich and our recpetion in Knutsford, Cheshire.

They have a couple options under £1000.00, we were aimming to stick around that price but after seeing the albums have upgraded the option 2 to a bigger album!

PavonePhotography - thankyou, but I regret Essex is too much of an ask with our budget being £1000!!

We are looking for something fun / quirky / retro / etc.

Seen some good websites but nothing that has hit the nail on the head yet!

Have you found anyone yet ?

i pride myself on a fine art / documentary approach , I use prime lenses and not rocket launcher lenses. I like to get involved at weddings building rapport so I can create an honest set of intimate images . I hate these words reportage and unobtrusive. I create images that have immediate artistic value , not generic head shots of you and your guests. Please have a look at my Facebook page and get back to me if you are interested

Interesting, on the one hand documentary means "you document" (not change) what is there, and thus "reportage" and "unobtrusive" fall into the same camp

On the other hand "getting involved, building rapport" is (strictly) the opposite of documentary

Fine art just means you push each process you are involved with to its limit in excellence, which if you are being "fly on the wall" and documentary will usually refer to what happens after the shot is taken. I.e. how you process and print the shot. (I assume you are not shooting film or using a large format plate camera)

Most wedding photographers shoot with a mix of primes and zooms, as shooting with primes, can be a bit of a pain when the wedding is not static, or you are pinned to one shooting position

As I cant recommend myself, and I am out of budget anyway, if the OP wants to see an example of a truly cutting edge artistic and documentary wedding photographer, have a look Ross Harvey at https://www.rossharvey.com/
