Photographers - Contract?

mrsdagg2b, 31 January, 2011 at 15:02 Posted on Planning 0 6

One of H2B's work colleagues does photography in his spare time and he's offered to do our WHOLE day (getting ready through to the end of the night) for £200. His portfolios are quite good and we're on a bit of a budget so we've decided to use him. He'll take unlimited photos, put them on a disk and give us the copyright.

I'm a bit of a "cross the i's and dot the t's" kind of person and I'd really like to have a contract (for both our benefits) but as it's only really a hobby for him, he doesn't have one. He has said that if I draw one up he's more than happy to sign it.

Only problem is, I don't know where to start!! I know contracts are very personal to people, but if any HIBs or brides can advise things I should include in mine, I'd be very grateful!

If hes h2b work colleague and he doesnt have a set contract i just think you need to concentrate on your side.

If he fails to show up you will get a refund....

hours of working as set out...

images on cd with a written licence to print/"copyright"

There are a few things you also have to understand or would put in to protect his rights:

monitors and printers show and print the images differently.

man made materials can appear a slightly different shade under different lighting conditions. (bridesmaids dresses are a prime example)

If you were to cancel you would not be entitled to a refund.

    not sure what else.....

    Hi,

If you search on google ou'll be able to find example wedding photography contracts that you could possible adapt.

The one concern I would have would be regarding insurance, I assume he won't have any?? Will you be covered if someone trips over his tripod/camera bag & injures themselves. Also, des he have back up equipment? What if his camera breaks & you get no pictures? You need to take a lot of things into account when hiring someone for such an important job.

Please feel free to send me a message if you need any more help.

    Sam . x
