Photographers - Cotswolds

YellowDuckie, 1 May, 2013 at 22:38 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, been lurking a bit but now brave enough to add some comments and ask a few qs. Love all the advice and help everyone gives!

We live in London but are getting married in Burford, Cotswolds. Does anyone have any recommendations of good photographers that cover that area? Figure that's the next thing to book after the venue?!

Thanks!

Cx

Such a stunning place! I was in the Cotswolds a week and a half ago for a wedding. I want to relocate there now! Maybe one day...

We have just this week recieved our wedding photographs from our Cotswold wedding - and they are just beautiful!!

We used 'Weddings by Nicola & Glen' - who were an absolute joy, and I would reccomend them in a heartbeat. Out photo's are beyond amazing Smiley smile

You can have a nosey at some of our pics on their blog https://weddingsbynicolaandglen.com/hyde-barn-wedding-cotswolds-louise-james/

    Hi MrsLong!

    First off, congratulations! :-)

You'll find many photographers travel + cover all over. I know I do! (Also based near London and travel!) so if you just ask, depending on the date and their bookings, I know many are more than happy to travel. Weddings happen everywhere after all! :-D

    Hello and welcome to Hitched!

When you say "good" photographer, you probably want to be thinking more about the style and the images you want, as what is "good" is largely subjective so you might get a load of names thrown at you and someone can be an excellent photographer but not your bag!

Thanks everyone, I'll check those suggestions out.

Marieanne - I understand what you're saying. I think part of the problem is I don't know what style! I've looked at many websites but nothing seems that different to me. Perhaps everything ive looked at has been the same style?! repprtage seems popular now and prob what we'll go with in the end. I was hoping to get some suggestions of ppl who others like, or have had good experiences with, so I can compare their styles to work out our perfect style!

I really feel for you because Photography can differ hugely. Hopefully by looking at different sites, this can help you eliminate what you are not too keen on.

I travel, like many others and have a very relaxed style. Others like to assist with positioning couples. It's completely a personal preference, just don't rush into a decision until you know what you like because a few brides I've spoken to have regretted doing that ☹️

Thanks. And yes, this'll be the lasting memory of the day and I'd want to show my kids etc. so I'm really keen to get it right! None of my married friends were that happy with their final photos (nothing disastrous but given the amount it costs I want to LOVE them!)

Don't feel you have to go with what's popular, there's a few different things you could consider. Do you want a lot of formal photographs? Would you like conceptual/stylish couple shots? Do you want the edited finish to be vibrant or more soft? There are definitely trends in photography, but there will be the full spectrum of different styles out there to cover your needs!

Please take time to read this whole thread fully as there is a lot in there about diferent styles https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/378780.aspx?PageIndex=4

"looked at many websites but nothing seems that different to me"

I have to say that I agree with you here, so -so many times I am seeing faded yellowy soft images so much so that you cannot see what the colour schemes are supposed to be. Ok fine the vintage look may be ok for some shots that fit the style. Flick through wedding magazines - its all yellow, popular wedding blogs - faded yellow, with bride and groom standing 3 feet apart holding hands forming a letter "M" - groom must always have his other hand in his pocket. This is just one shot that I see over and over again, contradicting myself I know - but I do not as a rule look at other photographers work, I think what is happening is that just recently EVERYONE is a photographer, and are new to wedding photography, and must be constantly looking at others work for ideas, see them and then reproduce them that's why everything is looking the same.
