We are in the Midlands and found our photographer at the Belfry wedding show.

He is called Andrews photography and really reasonable when we compared prices.

We're geting married in the West Midlands, we're going with prestige photography.

We chose them because they had a lot of experience at our venue.

We met three photographers, one who looked to be a bargain, one on the venues recommended list and one other. We ended up going with the ones recommended by the venue.

I would suggest starting by asking your venue if they can recommend any, then researching on the internet, and then finally meeting at least 3.

One word of advice to others seeking who to choose for their photogaphy......some photographers are good at networking and schmoozing to get on venues lists...

Some photographers are good at photography whatever the venue

Some photographers are good at both

Not all photographers that are "recommended" by venues are necessarily the best photographer for that venue as they may be "blinkered" by previous weddings there....

Keep an open mind and don't assume that because they are recommended that they are the best....(This is a general observation of the industry and not knocking Blurplmpala's chosen photographer)

We went with "treasured forever" who are based in Walsall (i think). We're in Sheldon and got married in Sutton Coldfield if that helps.

They are a husband and wife team so one does reportage and one does the posed shots. We've had a fair bit of contact with them over the album to make sure we like it.

We were very comfortable with them. Have a look at their website...they do a range of prices i think.

I know that my title says "London Photographer" but Pixcellence is actually Ray and Clwyd. Ray is based in the West Midlands and can cover your wedding, take a look at the gallery to get an idea of the style that we use which is a combination of contemporary reportage and some formal portraits. BTW - agree with the comment on the venue photographer - choose the photographer that you think is the best and feel most comfortable with.

Whilst it's often good to have local suppliers I'm sure you'll find that most photographers will travel and you'll have more choice that way. Thanks for all your replies! We have a meeting with a photographer a friend has recommended (and she is very fussy!!) on Wednesday so hopefully that will be good. If not will look at some of your recommendations!
