Photography Help?

Tracie 8/9/07, 19 September, 2008 at 20:10 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi There,

I am hoping someone can reccommend someone who can help. My twin sister gets married in 5 weeks and has been let down by her photographer. Problem is the photographer she had booked was only £150 for a digital only package.

At this short notice we are struggling to find someone with similar prices, and we cant go any higher as I am already paying for this to help out since the other photog went awol, (and i have already paid for her dress and stationery and cake lol!)

Can anyone reccomend someone in the Kent (Margate) area who could help?

Its for 25th October, single venue civil ceremony?

Many thanks

Tracie

Sorry we can't help (too far for us as the budget wouldn't even cover our travel expenses) but as a last resort here are some options you could try.

Contact local colleges and see if there are any photography students that would be prepared to take this on.

Contact as many guests as possible and ask them to come armed with cameras. You could even get the registrar to announce at the end of the ceremony that you would like guests to take as many photos as possible as this will be your only record.

Allocate key shots out to friends that you know are keen on photography - so one person could be asked to take the signing of the register shot, another could be asked to photograph 2-3 groups (you may have to take charge and organise these groups yourself on the day).

In order to make sure you get copies of guest photos you could either leave blank CDs on all the tables or, if you know someone who is techie minded, you could set up a laptop in the evening and attach a multi-card memory card reader and just get guests to download their photos there and then. I would make sure someone oversees this apart from anything else to keep and eye on the laptop.

Set a competition for the best photo and send out a prize after the wedding.

I am not suggesting this will be as good as a pro (although I would be surprised if the person you were going to use anyway was a full time pro for the price they were charging) but might be an option to help you get some photos if you can find another fix.

The only thing I'd add is that you might want to try ringing a couple of local newspapers and seeing if any of their photographers do the occasional wedding on the side. Local press photographers earn pittance and are often happy to earn extra cash
