photography of a small wedding?

sarah321, 3 February, 2013 at 08:38 Posted on Planning 0 6

I am getting married in scotland outside at an estate. ceremony is to be followed by afternoon tea picnic. having 16 guets including four children. have booked a tog for four hours on the day.

have a meeting with the tog to chat about shots and timings but wanted to run through it in my head first/on here. i dont want any getting ready pics ie without make up and hair done but would like the dress shot in the window pic of shoes and bride portrait shots. also was after some scenery shots as love the location. we are nt having bridesmaids otherwise there would be no normal guets left. not decided if having an aisle yet but so far options for that are walking down with my.niece or the dog lol. how long before the ceremony starts do you think i should ask the tog to arrive bearing in my we only have 4 hours? did nt get a full day cus was worried there was nt enough to take photos of.

thanks in advance

What time are you having hair and make up done? What time are you planning to get in your dress? What time is the ceremony?

Ceremony is at 1pm. also have appts with hair and makeup ladies the same wkend as tog so thats not decided yet either. i think i thought in my head its only takes half a to get ready, half an hour for photos before ceremony therefore i can have a lie in till 11. thinking i may have to have a rethink or i might be 3 hours late. i have no idea how long anything takes to be honest and i majorly under estimate things x

It will take much longer than 30 minutes to get ready. If your ceremony is at 1pm I'd be getting into your dress at 12.30 if you are getting ready at your venue. I'd get your Photographer to arrive at 12 if you want pictures of your dress hanging. At least you'd have them until 5pm then. What time do you sit for food? Are speeches before the meal?

We are nt having any speeches. food will be done by ourselves so was thinking if ceremony at 1, half an hour for that then half hour to an hour for photos then food so 2 -half 2 that will give time after ceremony whilst photos are being taken for food to be set out.

Hi there! Yours is similar to ours, though our numbers are a little more (25 incl 4 kids). Our ceremony is 1pm too and are having an afternoon tea style meal at 2-2.30pm. I am not having the full 'getting ready' pics either, but my tog is arriving at 12 as I think makeup/hair will be pretty much done by then (not having any bm's). Right after ceremony (which will prob be 20-30min), we are doing some couple shots (again maybe 30-40mins). Having cutting of cake + speeches before meal, so tog will get those pics + maybe everyone having a good time eating + getting pics of the hills surrounding the venue. Meal will hopefully be done by 4pm, at which point we will be taking the group shots, which there won't be many with such a small party. So to be on the safe side, I have hired my tog for 6h. xx

Oh believe me - there are always pics to take! Better to have your tog there longer to ensure they capture as much as possible. I would agree that a 12 start would be good. Depending on the rest of your day's plans, it may be worth considering extending them by another hour or 2.
