photos list

kazndave, 20 February, 2010 at 16:36 Posted on Planning 0 11

Are there any lists for the photos that you are supposed to do with wedding party n family? i'm trying to do my list for the photographer but i'm worried about missing one that should be done or forgetting someone (i've got a bit of dizzy head on today!)

I think its more about personal choice and what you and H2B would like, there may some that your parents may like so maybe you could ask their suggestions? but i really dont think there is any hard and fast rules about photos you have to have! x

I just had some chocolate (Well a cream egg) and will try and put a better post together this time --

What I was trying to say - Assuming the bride has selected an experienced photographer they will probably be shooting anywhere between 15 and 40 weddings a year and they have done a good enough job for you to select them and you obviously like their style and the photographs they normally take.

You need to detail to them the shots which you want which are not a feature of every wedding or venue and the family groups that you need that are special to your family or wedding. It would be good to discuss the arty photographs as the photographer should also have some ideas on this (Thats what you are paying them for)

Some general points to bear in mind regarding photographic coverage in general

The photographer normally will need to get to the church between 20 and 30 minutes before the bride is due and unless you have 2 photographers in 2 cars it is unlikely you will get the last minutes at the house as they happen.

Bridal preparations often run late and you need to aim to get everyone ready half an hour before the photographer has to leave for the church - You will often only end up with 5 minutes for formal photographs at the house so plan in some time for mum and dad to get ready as well as they are usually last dressed.

Vicars have different rules at every church - Soime are positive and will do anything to help and others may only allow a single shot from the back of the church.

Group photos at the church - Depending on the size of the wedding you need to allow between 2 and 5 minutes per requested photo, 2 minutes would rely on the bride having ushers who know the guests helping to find the relevant people - I would suggest the list on this thread will take 45 minutes to an hour.

Hi Mrs Tonner.....This list question is quite a regular feature on this forum for us long termers.......

The bride getting in to the dress is usually followed by the " bridesmaid lacing the back of the dress up" shot......

The ? in me also suggests that to get the balance of the coverage right, you also need to have a shot of the best man helping the groom in to his trousers and doing his flies up!!!!?

Of course, my comments are tongue in cheek.....very much so........It is normal and understandable that couples worry that all shots are covered...although good photographers will have this in their mindset from the pre-meets when they ascertain your requirements on the day. Good photographers will deliver shots that you love that you hadn't even thought about.....Extensive lists "can" limit the creativity of good photographers IYSWIM. as they will have less time to look for those naturally occurring images.

An important note to all couples who have a photography list requirement(nothing wrong with that) is to book a photographer who is happy with big lists and not book a photographer who has a skill in reportage...that is where problems will happen....

    Best wishes

    Peter
