Photos on Brighton Beach- advice please

chrissyroxanne, 2 July, 2012 at 12:11 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi,

I am getting married in The Grand, Brighton next August and we are wanting to have photos down on the beach of course because of the view/experience etc. But obviously in August as long as the weather is nice the beach is going to be absolutely heaving! Surely people have had pictures on the beach in summer before without having random sunbathers in the background of the shot?

Has anyone had their photos on the beach or is planning on doing the same as me. How did you/will you do it. Do you have a plan e.g. get the photographer to go ahead and politely move people??

I just don't want to turn up at the beach after a beautiful ceremony and then have rubbish pictures because there are half naked strangers in the background!!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks ?

I think, although not sure, that even on the busiest days if you just go further up the beach away from the main pier you'll definitely find sections that are quiet enough not to have hundreds of people there. I think the majority of ppl stay close the pier and the shops & bars that line the back of the beach but further down past the old pier i dont think there is much going on....why dont you try and get down there this summer and check it out for yourself to put your mind at rest - if we ever get a day hot enough!!

The beach after the pier towards the Mariner is usually a lot more quiet than the main strip. Photos on the pier could carefully be taken without anyone else, and an obligatory photo of you both on the carousel could be taken in between actual rides if you ask the person operating the ride. I think clearing the beach, even a portion of it, on a hot August day is expecting a bit much, but if the beach towards the Mariner is still too busy could you come back to the beach later in the day, as the sun is going down? The beach would be almost empty by then and you would get some stunning photos.

Thanks for this. Think the mariner would be a bit far to go as don't have transport we are walking so think walking all the way through Brighton in my dress might be a bit much, but going back when the sun is going down more is definitely a good idea. And Tallulah I think I will head down this summer to see what it is like at different times of the day....fingers crossed we do actually get some sun at some point!!!!

One of my friends did this and had photo's by brighton pier! There was no randomers in the background! I think people have a respect for people taking their wedding photo's- I am sure people will naturally move out of shot! Smiley smile x

I agree with this. But also can't your photographer photoshop them out? My photographer showed me a pic of Blenheim Palace with loads of ppl in the background and then the finished article - everyone had been taken out and it was a stunning photo!

    Here's a load.

Being in Brighton I'm there a lot. Any Q's or concerns ask me.

Oh, and Cat and Jamie in my Barns section.

You have to think out of the box. You know, August, Brighton seafront and the public become a problem.

I get asked for shots in the bandstand a lot. Which is fine but everyone else has the same idea, or there's a wedding on. Not a big problem mind you.

You can't move people. You really cant ask 50 (drunk and sunburnt) strangers to shift so I tend to revisit the beach after the wedding breakfast and clone any stragglers out.
