Pick Your Own Flowers?

ExpensiveBrownDiamonds1257, 5 October, 2015 at 15:08 Posted on Planning 0 5

Has anyone considered using a Pick Your Own flower farm for their wedding flowers? We are getting married abroad at the US at a summer camp. The venue sent us a list of recommended vendors and, while there were a few traditional florists on there, most were PYO flower farms in the area.

The one I'm most interested in charges a flat fee £200 for exclusive use of the farm for the day, access to as many flowers as you want, and supplies to create the bouquets. You can bring your own vases or rent them, and while they provide step by step instructions to create the arrangements, if you need help they will assist for an addtional cost per arrangement. They will also store the flowers overnight and deliver them the next day for a £10 fee.

There is another flower farm the venue also recommended and they will plant the flowers/colors you'd like to use if you let them know in advance, but I haven't contacted them yet.

What do you think? Since most of the wedding planning has been long distance I won't be able to do very much with my wedding so I thought this could be a fun activity for all the female relatives to do togther (and it would save us from having a massive flower bill!).

I think it sounds fantastic! It also means you can create unique arrangements, and you'll actually have the flowers in front of your when you're deciding what to have. I'd totally do this if it was an option.

Sounds amazing and although no experience I think lots of flowers informally in vases and hand tied bouques would look lovely! I would do this. ?

I've never heard of this before, but it sounds great and you could save a fortune. You could even arrange to go on a flower arranging course beforehand, or ask your relatives to, so you can get the hang of the basics.

We did this in the UK using http://www.greenandgorgeousflowers.co.uk/ flower farm Smiley smile

It worked out perfectly and really gave us the relaxed, natural vibe we wanted from our flowers.

They made the bouquets for us, but other than that we did the rest.
