Piece of glass in food

glynbo, 20 December, 2008 at 09:18 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

My husband bit into a piece of garlic bread and a 2inch shard of glass pierced his tongue. We phoned the shop we bought it from to get them to clear the shelves, phoned the company that produced the bread and left a message on their answer machine and will prob phone trading standards on Monday morning.

His tongue was sore last night, alot better this morning but still sore - he's not keen on going to the dr, but I am worried he might need a tetnus shot - any ideas?

Depends where the glass came from really.......

Does he have a cut on his tongue? If so perhaps he may need a stitch in it.

Otherwise, just keep it clean........obvious I know being in the mouth but may benefit from either warm salty mouthwashes or buying some antispetic mouthwash. Work on a MaxFax ward and we use Corsodyl mouthwash.

If it is cut then food debris could cause it to become infected

Thanks for you reply, that's great advice. It did pierce his tongue but there doesn't seem to be a cut and the puncture sort of closed over. I will get him to use the antiseptic mouthwash over the weekend and see if he needs to go to the dr on Monday.
