As a guest I think I'd prefer to see Caroline, or Caroline and first initial of last name if there was more than one.

Although my wedding photographer friend says several weddings recently haven't used them at all, just an overall seating plan showing who'a at which table (OK so you'd need to decide how to write their names on that!) and then people can choose which seat to sit at on the allocated table.

I think on the name style it depends on whether you're a more formal or informal person, or the level of formalily of your wedding.

So, in summary, do what you like! ha ha

When I'd made the ones for the wedding I'd done Mr/Mrs mainly as I was celebration my new Mrs Status, on the blessing ones with the menus I'd done first name and last name.

I might go with the Mr/Mrs on them all, surely the in laws couldn't complain if I did that but could if I did the first names/last names or first name only.

Oh yes the ol' do we please us or the old folks dilemma!

I don't think we have enough oldies to have that problem, but it sounds like you've got a plan :-)

Actually, that's a point. If you do first names, what do you put for parents, grandparents etc?

Do I put "Mum", her first name, or even "Mum C"?

For our top table we have "Mother of the Bride" rather than Mum or Georgeta!

We've just gone for first name and surname - titles gets complicated (are the older unmarried women Miss or Ms, which of my friends have finished their PhDs etc...) and seems a bit too formal, but having just first names seemed a bit too casual, plus having surname initials for some but not others made it look "uneven." We also have at least two people who share the same first name and initial! For parents we are also just using their names.

FWIW, at all the formal dinners I went to at uni, the table plans were done with first names and surnames (sometimes titles for very important people).
