Placecards and menus

venart, 23 February, 2012 at 14:30 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi everyone!

Going through the wedding planner sent by my venue I notice that they offer quite a few things I didn't realize. For example, they will do in-house flower arrangements in ivory and green at no charge, supply a cake stand, etc.

Another option they have is printed menus for £4.50 each and placecards for £1 each.

i hadn't looked into getting them elsewhere yet, and while I would like them to be in my colour scheme, I don't really care enough if my venue does them at a competitive price.

I was thinking of just have one large menu set up beside the seating plan (another thing the venue provides free of cost), but even then I still need placecards. Is £1 a lot?

I'm having wooden scrabble racks with wooden scrabble tiles for place names that are coming in at less than £1 each so I personally think it's expensive for a piece of card.

I'm odd though so don't necessarily listen to me.

    Your venue sounds ace.

If you were planning on making the placecards yourself, I'd say £1 each is a lot.

I am doing ours myself and they will cost me a few bits of card and the time spent cutting them!

We bought 100 place cards for about £3 or £4 and are ging to print them ourselves - so even if you pay for someones time for a few hours a pound a card is still quite alot, I would say.

Don' know what the going rate for a place card is if someone does them for you, but I think our entire stationary range is coming in at well under a pound a head - and by all accounts it looks professional and expensive

I'm making the racks myself from some wooden beading lengths in Wickes that look exactly like the scrabble rack shape. They're about £4 a length and you get about 13 racks to each one.

I've ordered the scrabble tiles from China - they took ages to arrive and adding up the amount of letters I needed was a ball ache but I'm pleased I did it.

Ooh, good point. I actually don't know what their will look like, but by the sounds of it most people consider £1 expensive. I'll look elsewhere.

Love the scrabble idea, wish I could do that, but it would look out of place at my venue I think.
