Planning Advice!

roselover, 5 June, 2012 at 13:01 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone has any wedding planning tips. Also if you have used a wedding planning book you can recommend or a budget planner you have used?

Thanks to all Smiley smile

It's quite basic but I have a massive spreadsheet which has our budget and keeps a record of everything I have bought and where were are up to on planning Smiley smile

I just write everything down in a book that i've made. It's not very big yet as we've only just started planning, but its working so far. I've got ideas at the front and actual expenditures at the back and its all divided into separate sections.

I literally just use a spreadsheet with different tabs for different things:

    tab 1 - guest list

    tab 2 - flowers ideas

    tab3 - to do list

tab 4 - timings for the day

    etc etc

It's the only way I can keep track and it's all in one place Smiley smile

I also have a big massive spreadsheet and folder on my computer where I literally save every picture & web link etc of stuff I like so I've got it to refer back to later.

I also use powerpoint for moodboards and then save as a jpeg if I want it as an image - there are websites that will do moodboards fro you but I prefer to DIY!

I have got a big wedding box at home too where I shove everything together including letters and paperwork stuff but to be honest I'm more of a computer person, can't lose stuff that way!

Please please please tell me you do some form of back-up?

Even if it is emailing the spreadsheet to yourself every fortnight.... there have been too many stories on here about hard drives not playing anymore!

Of course! I backup to USB and a CD every fortnight - I wish I had a special portable harddrive thingy though!

Tis very true and good advice though, I only do it because I used to work in IT dept so I know even the most cleverest IT geeks sometimes cannot recover stuff let alone us mere mortals!
