Plans after the wedding

cw2b, 23 June, 2014 at 21:11 Posted on Planning 0 19

By the time our big day comes, we would have been planning for 15 months and I can't imagine what I'll do with my time after our honeymoon! Every evening I get home and do something for the wedding or honeymoon! I'm on the look out for a new hobby to keep post wedding blues at bay - thinking of buying a sewing machine or start making a scrapbook. Kitchen needs decorating too so maybe I'll make a new pinterest board! Anyone got anything planned for after their wedding?

I think we'll enjoy some down time!!

In the past 5 years I've moved house 6 times, got married, got divorced (still working on that, lol), met my OH, had 2 kids (2nd due in 2 weeks!!) and getting married again.

    Down time required!!!

Just found out we will be moving to Suffolk/Cambridge area from Cheshire a few months after our wedding for OH work, so I guess we will be busy with moving.

P.s. Does anyone know these areas who can advise me on a nice place to live haha?

There are some decorating and minor improvement jobs that need doing in our flat, so I s'pose we'll get on with those. And I guess we should probably plan a reception of some sort!

I'm in full on blues mode Smiley sad

My top OM tip: book and pay for stuff to do after the wedding *now* so you have stuff to look forward to: evening classes for just you, maybe or book theatre tickets, day trips etc

It helps with the blues and paying for it all in advance means you don't feel guilty about going as the money's already spent! Smiley smile

I have no idea how I am going to occupy myself after the wedding & I have a strange feeling I won't be able to watch Four Weddings, Don't Tell the Bride & all the other wedding related programmes either...

I have really got into Pinterest lately! We bought a house last year and we have still not finished refurbishing it as we have been pushed for time and money with the wedding. We still need to do the kitchen, bathroom, 3 bedrooms, garden and an extension. There are lots of stuff that l need to research and we need to make decisions about.

I was talking about this to OH yesterday saying we'll need to have a new hobby else we'll run out of things to talk about!!

The plans for a loft conversion are in motion at the moment so hopefully we will be able to think about decorating or at least planning it pretty soon after the wedding.

We are off to Las Vegas for NYE and will be TTC while we're there. I'm quite happy that for a few months I won't have to spend every second of the day answering phone calls from guests, BM's, suppliers etc

Well we're not living together until the night of the wedding, so I think we'll be decorating/ 'nesting' after the wedding!!! Also we took up tai chi together at the start of this year but haven't been able to get as often as we'd like, and we don't have any where to practice so I think we'll start doing more of that. We're both part of a spiritual awareness group (that's how we met!!) so are planning to start the spiritual healing classes once all wedding stress has gone!! Not forgetting lots of fun stuff like halloween, bonfire night & Christmas to look forward to, and a fair few gigs we plan to go to this autumn/ winter ? We both tend to get the January blues though, and as we're not having a honeymoon as such (might manage a few days away maybe on east coast) I'm thinking it would be nice to start planning a nice holiday around this time ?

I live in Cambridgeshire, and work in Cambridge City - are you looking at any specific areas yet or just generally?

We're having a quick mini break then it's CHRISTMAS which will definitely give us something to look forward to. We're honeymooning properly in April 2015 which gives us a longer term treat to look forward to, and in between I imagine there will be something that needs doing in the new house, which we're set to move into this August but going on past experience takes a while to get everything done and with the wedding in the middle of it I doubt it'll be a quick turnaround.

That's a good idea, booking things now to look forward to. I was considering doing the 12 dates idea so maybe I'll actually do it!

We're getting married beginning of November so will start Christmas planning. Then next year we will be planning out trip to New Zealand to see his mum and sister. The following year it's a milestone birthday for OH so will probably focus on planning that. So loads to keep me occupied for the next couple of years.
