We find out today whether our buyer has any intention of buying our maisonette or not. He put his offer in in March. We were intending on buying a different house, but pulled out of that one when we found a different one, this was around 21st April. The whole chain is ready to go (and has been for 2 months) apart from our buyer, who, when he applied for his mortgage in March, didn't fulfil or even start to fulfil the conditions of his mortgage offer until 5 weeks ago, the condition being that he removes his name from his current mortgage. He still hasn't done this, the last we heard that he was trying to do was convert his mortgage to a buy to let mortgage, which he applied to do 3 weeks ago. He has been horreddously difficult to get hold of, not answering or returning the estate agents / solicitors / financial advisors calls. We told our estate agent on friday to tell our buyer that we are re-marketing today if he hasn't got his deposit to the solicitor by the end of business today. She left this info on his answer machine, and mirraculously he phoned back within half an hour to say he still wants to buy it, but he feels like he hasn't been kept informed regarding the rest of the chain and that we are messing him around!!!!!!! This is despite that fact that he reduced his offer by 3.5k, which we accepted based on a quick exchange of contracts, this was 6 weeks ago, and we still have no exchange of contracts. We wanted a quick exchange because we had found out he was looking at other properties.
So, today is it. We either exchange or go back on the market, I'm hoping and praying it's the former. We've been on the market for a year on the 19th Sept, he is our 4th buyer.
UPDATE:
Well, we had a phonecall at 5 yesterday evening confirming that he has pulled out of the sale. We are gutted. Back to square 1.
