Hi everyone,
I have a bit of a query over our first dance song and would love to have your opinions.
We were going to have our dance to Etta James "At Last" as a little joke to the fact we will have been together 7 years when we get married when people (and me) wanted us to get married after 2.
But Etta James was around me growing up and I don't even think my OH had heard of her till he met me. However for some reason we both happen to love the song "Promise Me" by Beverly Craven - here's the link if you are not familiar -
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EmTBKbyaEjU
We have been known after a few drinks, listen to it and sing along - albeit sounding like someone in pain but here's the snag the song is about the partner leaving and wanting a promise that their partner will wait for them as they will be home soon. Neither me or my OH will be going anywhere, we have desk jobs - if one of us worked away or in the forces it would make more sense.
I am worried people will know the song and the meaning or listen to the lyrics which are so clear due to her beautiful voice and think why on earth are they dancing to this!! I'm afraid it won't make any sense and would almost be silly to anyone else - I know I shouldn't care but I guess because the first choice of song was a "joke" because of the lyrics it's worrying me.
Please be honest, what are your thoughts? x
