Please help - 1 week till wedding, but I am going to somehow have to cancel

Figaro82, 22 February, 2013 at 20:27 Posted on Planning 0 166

I don't know what to do and I am to scared to speak to anyone yet as it will mean its really happened. My other half has been away for work for the past few days and is due bakc later tonight. i woke up to a voicemail from him this morning which was a background call (he hadn't meant to call). I heard him and a girl laughing and talking to each other and it was obvious where there talk was leading too. They were also kissing. I lasted for 4 minutes then ended. I have been throwing up for most of the day and i am in shock! I honestly dont know what to think or do, I am so confused. He has text me to say how much he misses me and that he is so excited for our wedding next week. One sec I want to rip his balls off then I am praying that its a dream. God what do I do! I don't think I could forgive him or trust him so can't marry him Smiley sad

Oh my lovely what an awful thing to hear!

Are you sure it was him?? Did you record it? If so I suggest you play it to him and see his reaction, then you'll know.

I really dont know what to say. xx

    You poor thing, how awful!

I would confront him, you are going to have to. Its going to be painful but you cant marry him with a question mark like this hanging over your head.

    Firstly ?

Make sure the message is saved on your voicemail so you can play it back to him. Where did he tell you he was?

How awful you poor thing Smiley sad I wouldn't say a word, I'd just wait till he got home and then tell him I have something I want him to listen too. When you play it you will know from his reaction. Have you had any suspicions about his behaviour to date?

When you find out the truth and if it is what you think, remember there is no shame in cancelling a wedding, however short the notice. If someone shows so little respect for you that they would be unfaithful and lie about it, you risk a lot of unhappiness in the long term.

I hope all is not what it seems.

Thank you. I think I am just going to play it to him and see what he says. It will be obvious something is wrong as my face is red and swollen from all the crying. I have booked a hotel room for later as I don't think I can be around him after it comes out. I don't want to speak to anyone just yet as I need to start getting my head around it all. I know I can't marry him as this is a big no no for me. I have never been suspicious and I trusted him. It is 100% him so there is no doubt in my mind. God this is awful.

I'm so glad you realise this. I know so many people who had doubts but felt they were too far down the road to cancel and went through with it hoping for the best. They are all divorced.

No he doesn't work away that often as he works as he works for bbc in London and has only stayed away once in the last 5 years for work.

You are doing so well. Keep strong! There's people here but if there's someone you can get a hug from in real life please do that too. Big hugs.

I think you've done the right thing, to wait until you're face to face. Big deep breaths & walk away when you need to. Don't let him convince you to stay at home, you will need some space & he needs time alone to realise what he's done.

I feel sick for you. This is truly awful. If it is any consolation, you have a whole group of ladies on here behind you and thinking of you. I wish you all the best sweetie, awful as it is, it may be better that it comes out before rather than after the wedding. If I could give you a hug I would! ?

    This!

I know it is prob the last thing you want to see anyone, but is there anyone you could ask to meet you at the hotel? I hate the thought of anyone sitting in that state alone.

I really feel for you x

Thank you for all your comments. He tried to blame it in a colleague but I knew it was him. He cried and said it was a one off drunken mistake but the trust is gone. He said it never went any further as he couldn't go through with it but I know he is lying to me. I heard what was said, so I know he wouldn't have stopped. I'm not stupid and I'm just as disappointed that he thinks I am. I've told him its over and the wedding is off. I'm at the hotel now and feel exhausted. I am glad I know but I obviously would never ever have wanted this to happen as I love him so much and your feelings don't just end. I can't be with someone that could do that to me. I will call my family and friends tomorrow but I need to get my head straight. Thank u for helping me. Got to unravel a wedding now Smiley sad xx
