Please help me find a bm dress!!! *flashy*

kj82, 10 May, 2010 at 21:17 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hey ladies,

I've already chosen my bms dresses but now cbm thinks her dress is going to look awful on her and to be honest, i wouldnt want her to feel uncomfortable all day so i have agreed to look for something else. Troubke is i cant find anything else and i want to get the dresses ordered!!! She's a big girl (size 22 - 24) and wants something that wont cling.

This is what we were originally going for in pale pink;

This is the sort of thing she wants.

Its perfect but the wrong colour, and with everything else ive already organised i cant change. Colour im after is very pale pink. Has anyone seen anything? My eyes are weary of surfing the net Smiley sad

    I think the one you have chosen would flatter her, as the line goes down and takes your eyes away from the usual problem area's. I think it would look odd having a total different style and the shade will never be exactly the same.

    Hi KJ, one of my BMS is a size 26. She first tried this one on (a D'zage), which is not too dissimilar to your choice, and she really loved it (it was me who wanted a different material). The 'rouching' over her tum (her widest part) was v flattering, so I think that yours would have the same effect. The A line shape on the the bottom didnt cling to my BM at all. Can you find a sample in a plus size that she can try? Some bridal shops will let you order in samples for a small fee.

    Oddly, the dress we have now found and gone with is not dissimilar to the 2nd one!

    This one's a dessy, and they do them in loads of different colours.

    Hope you manage to sort it all out. x

    Personally i prefer the 1st one, as i think that it would flatter her even more. if shes quite big i might get it with straps, so it wouldnt need to be so tight up top and it might avoid the overspill thing. I actually think its slightly cheeky of a BM to point out that they dont like their dress! I've been BM twice and i wore what was pick for me both times, and my BMs went shopping with my mum and i and the picked the dresses together. But when it was down to the final 2, It was made my decision.

    My bridesmaid dresses are similar to the first one, and very flattering. One of my bridesmaids needed a size 20, but it gives her a lovely shape. I don't know if it's a zip back or a lace back your dresses have? My BM dresses have a lace-up back which they really like (agree about having straps too). Is there any way she can try one on to see?

    If she is the one who wants a new one, maybe ask her to help with the hunt for it?

    also dessy website is really good and easy to use, can choose the exact colours and cuts you want to see xx

    Thankyou ladies,

    she actually tried on my dress as it has similar ruching around the middle and it looked great. (not as good as it did on me of course as it didnt do up lol!) and even the lady in the shop said it would look lovely, the problem was my cbm saw a not very flattering pic of a big girl in a similar dress and is now paranoid that she'll look the same. I personally love the first dress so i dont know now ? The straps is definitely a good idea though, thanks!!!
