Please help to keep me motivated in my new start!!

Blackkat, 2 October, 2009 at 19:33 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 13

I've tried shifting some of the weight I've put on in the last 2 & a bit years (since I've been coupled up!). I came on here in January & another month (can't remember when) but I wasn't able to motivate myself for more than a couple of weeks. Having just reached the 10 month to my wedding date (& also a kid I teach poked me in the belly yesterday saving 'BIG BELLY'!) so I'm determined to make this the time that lasts for quite a few months. I wasn't very well at the beginning of this week so even that that wasn't good it suppressed my appetite & has kicked started me into getting into shape again. I even made it to my gym induction last night (1st time in 18 months!).

I'm basically asking for help to keep me motivated & I'll do all I can in return.

Just thought i would come and say hello ?

I only joined yesterday, as hoping to get some advice, and help, as have only just started to plan my wedding, ( we booked the church Thurs nite, and over the next week are going round to look at the 2 places nearby that i think i may want the reception-Yeah)

I too want to loose some weight over the next few months, as then can Maybe start to look for my dress ( no idea what i want!!), So maybe we could try to keep each other on track?

Sorry you have been ill, not much fun. You are so good going to the gym keep it up girl ?

Are you following any special diet? I think i`m just going to try and keep an eye on the amount of calories i`m eating, and try to walk lots!!!!!

    Take care

    Hi there J,

I'm following the weight watchers points diet that I used sucessfully a number of years ago. I'm not a member & I don't go to meetings but I'm using the old information (which I've checked with a friend who's currently following it) which is still up to date. My partner walks to & from the train station everyday (1/2 hour each way) & has lost loads doing so (so jealous).

I was intending to go to the gym today but I'm now not sure that'll happen. I am, though, signed up to do 2 body pump classes which should help me start sheding some pounds and target my bingo wings (the only part I'm really worried about when wearing my dress). Am now thinking I might unearth our wii fit which I have't used for quite a few months, ease me in at home & get my H2B joining in too!!

When & where are you getting married? I've actually bought 2 dresses. 1 from ebay which is nice but I think I bought it mainly as it was cheap & I was concerned about the amount we were gonna end up spending. But in the end I've bought a more expensive dress that I orginally feel in love with (luckily my mum is paying for half of it) & I will need to sell the other on ebay or somewhere similar.

Good luck with your planning & losing weight & hopefully we can help motivate each other,

    Hi Kat,

Oh, a couple of the girls at work used to do WW, and they lost lots of weight, I`m kinda thinking about joining something, but seems to be a lot going on at the mo, so ,just going to see how it goes. You count point`s don`t you on WW?

I am going to starting to walk to work again, (much easier than arguing with rush hour traffic, takes me between 45-55 mins depending on what`s on my ipod!!! It can take me an hour to drive) and part of the way back, then my boyfriend pick me up, to save, me walking up the big hill near out house ? plus i work with littlies, so alway on the go, so that should help burn the calories up, as long as i watch what i eat. The lady who works in the kitchen makes such nice snacks, they are so hard to resist- must have will power!!!!

I live in Norwich, so getting married in a local church, next to a river, so finger crossed for a nice day, as think that will make so good pic`s.On sat 21 ST may 2011 ( also my 30th birthday- figure might as well have one big party), which seems, so far away, but since ringing around the reception places, they are getting so booked up, so the planning has started!Think once the reception is booked as well everything will seem a bit more real. How about you? Can see from your count down, you have just under 10 months ? to go, but where are you getting married?

I too am thinking about buying my dress off e bay, also to keep the cost down, but also worried, that i won`t get the measurements right ,and will end up with a dress that won`t fit, and will have to end up paying more to get it altered. But my auntie is a dress maker, and is hoping to move back here, so i`m thinking i may enlist her help to measure me. Where they helpful when you order yours? Do you know the user name, and maybe i will have a look, always good to have recommendations?

I bet your dress is gorgeous, can you share what it is like?

Off to try to make healthy fajita`s for tea, out comes the low calorie oil spray and lean turkey.

    Take care.

    Hi Jules,

Funnily enough I'm a Norwich girl too (although currently living in Aylesbury) & I'm getting married at Caistor Hall which is in the south of the city. My partner proposed in March & we went to look around venues in Norwich in April. 15 months before we were due to get married & so many venues were already booked for every saturday in August 2010 (we even briefly considered getting married on the memorable date of Friday 13th August!!). Where abouts is your church?

My dress is http://www.ellabridals.com/dress.php?id=1 & the 1 bought on ebay was through a private seller. Its a maggie sottero limited edition called 'Ladonna', but it doesn't appear to be on the website anymore.

My H2B has just served up a nice healthy dinner for me so hopefully I can chat with you again soon,

    Kat

Whoops, had a slight slip up. My partner bought a tub of icecream but it turned out it contains nuts which he is allergic to but instead of eating part of it I ate all of it! Now got to spread a whole days worth of points across the rest of the week.

    I will be stronger!

    Hi Girls,

I am back on WW - for me its the only thing that works. Its the shame and utter humiliation of paying a fiver to be weighed infront of people that motivates me!!! ?

The thing i like about it is that im not on any set menu and i dont have to starve myself. Im lucky because i do like veg and salad stuff so i just bulk up on that. I have to admit im not really into the gym but i have a couple of the celeb workout DVD's that i do at home plus i try to walk as much as i can.

my weigh is in either a friday night or saturday morning so i try to be good all week at work then allow myself a take away and a couple of glasses (er, bottles) of wine at the weekend. I try to "save" points if i know its going to be a mad one but i dont add "activity" points whenever i do anything resembling exercise!!

my weight when i started was 12st 1lbs and i am now 11st 3lbs, the weight has been dropping off steady each week (i joined 2nd week in august) apart from one week after a big party weekend away when i put on ☹️

Another thing i thing has helped me is that i go with my sister and we have a similar goal weight so its like a bit of healthy competition between us!!

In the past i have half heartedly tried to diet but when i have a bad week i end up thinking 'oh well ive ruined it now...' and fell back into old habits. I have to say i have really surprised myself at how dedicated i have been this time. even when i get weighed on a friday and ive lost, i actually WANT to be good at the weekend so i can keep it going!! ?

Its only 12 weeks till xmas - 1lb a week would be amazing for me and thats what im aiming for - not to mention the big day in april!!!

Best of luck to all my fellow dieters!!!

Congratulations Louise, sounds like you're doing a great job of staying motivated. You've done really well with losing your weight so far. I managed to lose a stone and a half when I was a member of weight watchers before so I know I can do it but I've done that 'half hearted thing' recently where I've given up cos I've been away for the weekend, or treated myself to a takeaway. I could easily let that tub of icecream I ate last night lead to me calling it off but I bit the bullet, pointed it up & will take it off my points this week.

Good luck everyone with your weight lose.

    Hi Girls,

Kat , can`t believe your from Norwich too ? caistor hall is so lovely, you will have the best time. I had a look on the Ella brides website, they really do some gorgeous dress. Me and one of my friends were looking on the net yesterday at dresses-let the fun bit begin!!! Think i`m going to wait till after Christmas, when hopefully i will have lost a little weight then maybe i can go and try some on, and get an idea of what i like, then get my aunty to help measure me, as i still have a while to think about it all. When did you girls buy your dresses?

I`m getting married at the church by the river green in Thorpe st Andrew, on the yarmouth rd.

Yum, Ice cream, but hey good for you for sorting your points out during the week, to compensate for it. You should be proud of yourself. We had Chinese last nite, so not a very healthy either , but we did work hard hacking back my Nan`s hedges for most of the day, so hoping that used a fair few calories up, to compensate for it. Walked lots today, beef stew, with lots of veggies to full me up tonight, been in the slow cooker all day , made me feel hungry, as soon as i walked in a little while ago.

Yep, well done Louise sounds like you are doing a great job on WW.

    Take care.

I've been keeping a weight loss blog and I've found it really helpful. Publicise it to your friends on facebook/twitter or whatever social network you use and encourage everyone you know to follow your progress. Try blogger, it's a part of google and so easy to use. When you find yourself reaching for a naughty chocolate eclair, blog about it and keep your hands busy! Those who love you and care about your progress can use it as a motivational tool too.

Good idea. Maybe I can have a try. Is that so useful? How much weight have you lost? I just want to know the effect.

There is a real community out there, if you comment on people's blogs they typically read yours and comment back, you just have to get involved. My diet has gone to pot a bit, I've started a new job but i've kept weight loss in my mind by continuing to write the blog so I don't give up completely and start gaining! I'm in my Kate Moss jeans now (32" waist), just have to slim the thighs down a bit along with the hideous love handles. My family and friends read it and they're all pleased with my progress so far. If you're positive about it, they'll want to get on board. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
