All inclusive is nearly impossible to come by in Florida so you'd probably need to price it up based on a package tour then add in meals too.

Are you sure about dates? You'd be taking your kids out of school.

Just to add - I think ball park figures for the 3 of you, plus park entrances, flights, accommodation and meals etc would be around £2,000

Yeah a package tour would be fine. and i cannot afford to go in school holiday times plus this holiday is a once in a life time trip, so yeah i would be fine taking them out of school for a week.

Look for tours running into Orlando Sanford airport - it's not the main Orlando airport but usually a bit cheaper to fly into. If you can, I'd hire a car. EVERYONE drives in America but if you stay on International Drive (away from the Disney resorts) there are shuttle busses up and down the road plus to all the major attractions. IMO 1 week isn't enough unless you just want to do the Disney attractions - the kids will need a day off walking around parks now and again.

At that time of year you might find it cheaper to book a fly drive package, hire a small villa and cook yourself.

Another thought - for a holiday of a lifetime for the kids, I'd wait another 3 years. I first went to Disney when I was 5 and I can barely remember a thing. Went back at the age of 9 and remember loads.

Another quick thought - have you considered house exchanging? It would dramatically reduce the flights. We did it lots as a family and was fab - went all over the place - Florida, new york, Australia.

Cheapest I can find on a room only basis is £2,222 with First Choice. Park attractions are really expensive too. A 5 day Disney ticket for 1 adult and two kids under 10 is about £350.

There's an advert on TV at the moment for the free dining plan which might be worth looking into. Travel City Direct and Virgin seem to have the offer

I was amazed at the price until I realised flights weren't included ?

I'm so glad I booked my flights to Miami back in April - they're already nearly £200 more expensive.

Thank you everyone. we have done some calculating and thought about the kids ages. we have decided not to do it next year. but we have been looking at the costa del sol. i went into first choice and got a quote for 14 nights self catering inc flights for 1 adult 2 children £747. only thing is i have no idea weather that is a good price or not as i have never been abroad. lol.

    what does everyone think?

That largely depends on what time of year you're taking them (still September?) and what quality accommodation you're looking at.

Disney does free dining for August and September next year so you'd just be able to get that if you want to stay at a Disney resort.

Check out the disboards, they'll be able to help you as there's currently lots going on about free dining

If it's not a once-in-a-lifetime trip (and TBH I didn't really see how Disney was justified in terms of taking kids out of school, it's not like they'll be learning anything) then I really don't think you should be taking them out of school, certainly not for 2 weeks. If you can't afford to go abroad during the holidays then take them to the seaside here or just out on some days out - that's what my parents always did, first time they took us abroad for hols was when I was 18. Before that it was Weymouth/Isle of Wight in a caravan all the way.

So I'm sorry, but I'll be the first to say it Keef ?
