Please recommend an eye cream!

flissy666, 17 January, 2009 at 13:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I really need a good eye cream that won't break the bank - c. £15 budget. I have dry and sensitive skin under my eyes, which is just recovering from a 53 day bout (yes, I counted the days) of sore eczema, which has exacerbated my fine lines. This has made me feel rather grumpy, so please help me! I'm 28, so some of the products for more mature skin could be too heavy.

TIA guys Smiley smile

I just forked out for the Estee Lauder Night Repair one which is apparently fine for sensitive skin. It stung sooo much I had to wash it off. Gutted.

I'm off to town in a min to try the No7 one which someone told me was good.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is fab for clearing up skin problems but I am not sure if you can use it on the eye area.

No7 Protect and Pefect eye cream. Actually also recommend their day and night creams too, and foundation! I have very sensitive skin and they are all good on my face-no stinging at all.

I also have eczema on my eyes. I can't use normal hydrocortisone cream as it's obviously too harsh, but handily my sister is a GP and she found Dermacort for me, which is a very, very mild hydrocortisone and is fine to use on the eye area. It is only 0.1 per cent, whereas Eumovate and E45 are 10 times stronger. It completely zaps any patches I get before they get too bad. You can ask your GP for it or you can buy it over the counter (you might have to ask them to order it in for you).

I can't use a normal eye cream as every one I've ever tried makes my eczema flare up, so can't be of any help on that score I'm afraid.

I have sensitive, dry skin and really like Clinique All About Eyes.

I was actually prescribed that cream! Incidentally, you can't get hydrocortisone over the counter if it's for your face (they ask, but you can lie, lol!) because of the risk of scarring. I did find the cream helped, but I was only allowed to use it for two weeks to minimise the risk of skin damage. It certainly did zap the worst of it though Smiley smile

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations. I'll definitely take a look at the No. 7 stuff as the other products in their skin care range have been good when I've used them in the past.

    Thanks all!

I have ultra sensitive skin and often have fat puffy eyes where i have reacted to something and i second All about eyes by Clinique. If you go to a Clinique counter and explain your problem they usually give you a tester to try it out. My tester lasted yonks as you use it sparingly.
