    Here are a few I have heard but haven't definitely chosen ours yet

    What is Love?

    Love is just not looking at each other and saying "You're wonderful".
    There are times when we are anything but wonderful.
    Love is looking out in the same direction.
    It is linking our strength to pull a common load.
    It is pushing together towards the far horizons, hand in hand.
    Love is knowing that when our strength falters,
    we can borrow the strength of someone who cares.
    Love is a strange awareness that our
    sorrows will be shared and made lighter by sharing; that
    joys will be enriched and multiplied by the joy of another.
    Love is knowing someone else cares that we are not alone in life.

    Art Of Marriage

    Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
    A good marriage must be created.

    In the art of marriage the little things are the big things...

    It is never being too old to hold hands.

    It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.

    It is never going to sleep angry.

    It is at no time taking the other for granted;
    the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
    it should continue through all the years.

    It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
    It is standing together facing the world.

    It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.

    It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude
    of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.

    It is speaking words of appreciation
    and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

    It is not looking for perfection in each other.
    It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
    understanding and a sense of humour.

    It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

    It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.

    It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
    It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.

    It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
    dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.

    It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

    It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best.

    -by Wilferd Arlan Peterson

    These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.

    These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future.

    These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.

    These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind.

    These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and tears of joy.

    These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.

    These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.

    These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

    Union by Robert Fulghum (Eddy)

    You have known each other from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment.

    At some point, you decided to marry.

    From that moment of yes, to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making commitments in an informal way.

    All of those conversations that were held in a car, or over a meal, or during long walks – all those conversations that began with, “When we’re married”, and continued with “I will” and “you will” and “we will” – all those late night talks that included “someday” and “somehow” and “maybe” – and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart.

    All these common things, and more, are the real process of a wedding.

    The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, “You know all those things that we’ve promised, and hoped, and dreamed – (well, I meant it all, every word.”)

    Look at one another and remember this moment in time.

    Before this moment you have been many things to one another – acquaintance, friend, companion, dancing partner, lover, and even teacher, for you have learned much from one another these past eleven years.

    Shortly you shall say a few words that will take you across a threshold of life, and things between you will never quite be the same.

    For after today you shall say to the world –This is my husband. This is my wife.

    Friendship – Judy Bielicki

    “It is often said that it is love that makes the world go round. However, without doubt, it is friendship which keeps our spinning existence on an even keel. True friendship provides so many of the essentials for a happy life – it is the foundation on which to build an enduring relationship, it is the mortar which bonds us together in harmony, and it is the calm, warm protection we sometimes need when the world outside seems cold and chaotic. True friendship holds a mirror to our foibles and failings, without destroying our sense of worthiness. True friendship nurtures our hopes, supports us in our disappointments, and encourages us to grow to our best potential. (Bride) and (Groom) came together as friends. Today, they pledge to each other not only their love, but also the strength, warmth and, most importantly, the fun of true friendship.”

    I think we are having two of these, just not sure which yet!!

    His hello was the end of her endings
    Her laugh was their first step down the aisle
    His hand would be hers to hold forever
    His forever was as simple as her smile
    He said she was what was missing
    She said instantly she knew
    She was a question to be answered
    And his answer was “I do”

    - Sarah Jessica Parker, as Carrie Bradshaw, in Episode 19 of “Sex and the City,” “The Chicken Dance.”

    These I Can Promise
    Author Unknown

    I cannot promise you a life of sunshine;
    I cannot promise riches, wealth, or gold;
    I cannot promise you an easy pathway
    That leads away from change or growing old.

    But I can promise all my heart's devotion;
    A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;
    A love that's ever true and ever growing;
    A hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.

    The Promise
    Eileen Rafter

    The sun danced on the snow with a sparkling smile,
    As two lovers sat quietly, alone for a while.
    Then he turned and said, with a casual air
    (Though he blushed from his chin to the tips of his hair),
    "I think I might like to get married to you"

    "Well then, she said, "Well there's a thought,
    But what if we can't promise to be all that we ought,
    If I'm late yet again, when we plan to go out.
    For I know I can't promise, I'll learn to ignore
    Dirty socks and damp towels strewn all over the floor.

    So if we can't vow to be all that we should
    I'm not sure what to do, though the idea's quite good".
    But he gently smiled and tilted his head
    Till his lips met her ear and softly he said

    "I promise, to weave my dreams into your own,
    That wherever you breathe will be my hearts home.
    I promise, that whether with rags or with gold I am blessed
    Your smile is the jewel I will treasure the best.

    Do you think then, my love, we should marry - do you?"
    "Yes" she said smiling "I do

    This is what we're having, chosen by H2B!

    Never knew I could feel like this
    Like I've never seen the sky before
    I want to vanish inside your kiss
    Every day i'm loving you more than this
    Listen to my heart, can you hear it sings
    Telling me to give you everything
    Seasons may change, winter to spring
    But I love you until the end of time

    Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
    Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
    Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste
    It all revolves around you
    And there's no mountain too high
    No river too wide
    Sing out this song I'll be there by your side
    Storm clouds may gather
    And stars may collide
    But I love you until the end of time

    We're going for a reading from Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Berniers;

    Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your root was so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. that is just being in love, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.

    I aldo really like this quote from the wind on fire by William Nicholson;

    Today begins my walk with you
    Where you go, I go; where you stay, I stay
    Where you sleep, I will sleep; when you rise, I will rise
    I will pass my days within the sound of your voice and the nights within the reach of your hand, and none shall come between us
