Pole Dancing

Mrs C, 24 March, 2013 at 16:14 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Hurts.

Had a lesson from my friend yesterday (qualified instructor, has a pole in her living room, as you do) at 3am after a night of cocktails and champagne... My entire body hurts, I have bruises everywhere and a new found respect for pole dancers (not from a stripping pov but from a gravity defying strength pov).

It's a lot harder than it looks! I used to teach pole exercise (just the tricks, no sexy wiggling), and would be constantly covered in bruises. My pole room is now a nursery though, and I doubt I could do much past a basic invert any more.

Seems like you chose a very sensible time to try it out!

I can't do a pull up so doubt I could wrap myself around a pole.

Mrs C, you have inspired me, I asked S if I could have one in the living room for nights after Revs...he looked at me in sheer amusement..

Friend of mine used to be a pole dance (stripping pov) She slipped one day, landing on her lower back and now her career is over, she has had 2 major back operations and is currently waiting for her new plates and screws to settle in...

I love pole dancing, my friend ^^ had a pole in her living room was awesome on a drunken night out.

It's great fun, but hard work. I did a course of it (fitness through a College) and then went once a week.. My legs got so bruised! It improved my upper body strength. I'd love to do it again, but I think once I'm recovered from this baby I won't be as bendy as I used to be.... Lol

Plus, I actually won a local competition at the time, so sort of 'retired' after that!

My SIL once commented about doing this...I suggested that she could practise using the rotary drier in the garden....Her OH was more amused by this than she was!!!

I've been doing it for last couple of months. I love it but its seriously the hardest exercise I've ever done. Bruising and aching muscles are something I'm getting used to, in fact I'm lay in bed now trying to get my calf muscles to stretch enough for me to walk

Haha I've never tried it, but my friend once went along to classes, dressed in gym gear thinking it was more of a fitness style class - all the other girls were in gold bikinis and heels!

I used to go to pole classes. My legs were the most toned they have ever been. I was so proud when I managed to get myself halfway up the pole and then hang upside down with no hands! That was four years ago. I need to look into classes here, they were so much fun! Aches like hell, though.
