**Poll about your wedding dress**

Fran @ Hitched, 5 April, 2013 at 16:11 Posted on Planning 0 32

One the most important decisions, and purchases, that you’ll make during your wedding planning will be regarding your wedding dress. Your beautiful gown may be the most expensive dress you’ll ever wear, and you should enjoy every moment of wearing it. With so much choice available to brides today, I wanted to find out whether or not you’re choosing to wear a long, tea length or short wedding dress.

Feel free to comment on how you felt about choosing your long, tea length or short wedding dress below. Have you bought long to stick with tradition, or are you wearing a tea length dress to tie in with a 1950s themed wedding? Share your ideas with me....

I voted for short, but it is actually short at the front and long at the back. I chose this as Im getting married in Jamaica & needed something cool, but I still wanted to feel like a bride. Its lovely & light & will travel well. It looks shorter online than when its actually on.Its Mori Lee 6721 Smiley smile

I never considered anything other than long to be honest. I knew I wanted something classic and traditional (whcih I know in the eyes of some is just plain boring!)

I chose tea length (and coloured - black and purple) I wanted a dress I could wear again and again, and something that showed off my shoes.

The dress really wasn't a priority.

I also never imagined anything other than long. Saying that the style of dress I face got is completely different to what I had in my mind that I would like

I've gone for long but I do think tea length are gorgeous! I worried it would make me look extremely young though, in a bad way, as I look a lot younger than I am anyway.

I chose long, I never would have thought about choosing a shorter dress. It wasn't until I tried some on that I realised I wanted a longer train too. I definitely wanted the traditional bride look!

I've gone for long because I've got quite chunky (tree trunk) legs! I really like the tea length look but would have to wear a proper heel to make my legs look OK and I don't think I could do it all day. I've got shoes with a bit of a heel but then I'll have pumps to change into and no one will know!!

I had Tea Length because long dresses looked awful on me and I diddnt want a strapless long dress which seemed the only other option. As it was my dress was gorgeous so I made the right choice.

Long for me. Although being 4ft 11" means my dress is tea length on most people hahaha

I love the tea length dresses and would fit perfectly with my theme but I don't think they will suit me as I'm only 5ft 2 in so think it will make me look even shorter. Any other short brides wearing tea length? (maybe a flash? )

Im only 5'4" and it suited me ok. I actually looked shorter in long dress. I felt like a kid playing dress up.

I've gone for long (and love my dress), but wish I'd at least tried on a few tea length dresses.

I went for long as tea length dresses are a style I would normally wear for a party (I'm a total girlie girl and I love 50's glamour) and I wanted my wedding dress to be something out of the ordinary for me. Not saying that tea length wedding dresses are ordinary just that its not uncommon for me to wear that cut of dress whereas I never wear long dresses.

I considered a short dress because I'm getting married in St.Lucia, but decided against it as I have a habit of falling over at airports and didn't want to get wed with bruised knees ! In the end I chose something long but simple with just one layer of fabric and the lining, but it is strapless so it should keep me cool ( I hope ! )

I adore 50s style tea length dresses and have worn them before, but I'm pretty square in the body and I hate my lower legs so for the one day where I will be conscious of all eyes being on me even for a few minutes, it had to be long. I'm not really girly but I love my dress and think it is very 'me'. However, I did ooh and ahhh at Kharv and Minis shorter dresses... Absolutely gorgeous!!

I voted long, soon after I got engaged I drew my dream drss on a scrap of paper and forgot all about it. Weeks of trying on dresses passed and I was still no closer so my Mum suggested I try Ebay. I was reluctant but agreed. I found one with the halterneck and corset back like I dreamt of for £225, so I watched through one eye as Paypal authorised my transaction. I weeks later a box arrives. The beading is perfect, The lace is stunning and everything about my dress is just perfect. The halterneck needed adjusting because I..well..lack. I've since found the original scrap of paper, and minus a split in the skirt I'd drawn onto my dream dress it's a like for like resemblence. I couldn't be happier!

I can't wear tea length as I have dermatitis on my shins which I'm very concious off, otherwise I would as they're great for dancing!

For me, wearing tea length dresses day to day, would be another reason for wearing one on my wedding day. I wanted to feel like me, so a long dress wouldn't have felt very "me"

I had a tea length but it was dictated more by the individual dress than anything else. I only tried one tea length and ended up buying it.

Looking back, it was the absolute right decision and if I was to do it over and my dress wasn't available, I'd look mainly at tea lengths.

I think when you're on a wedding forum, relatively rare things appear common place? I didn't think I was being unusual choosing tea length but most of my guests had never seen a wedding dress that length! At least, not since the 50s/60s!

    Hi

I voted T-length as i wore one at my wedding. Many of my guests remarked that it was nice to see a different style of dress.I did try on longer dresses and the dress i did order (LouLou LB36) was in the longer length as i wasn't really sure at the time of ordering but as time passed and i did more research i really liked the 50's look so for the fitting sessions i knew that it had to be short. In the end i think it turned out to be a ballerina length and i added a coloured underskirt , i loved "swishing" in it on the dance floor x

This is very true kharvo. None of my guests had ever been to a wedding where the bride wore a short dress. I think it seems 'common' based on the fact we all use this forum as opposed to it being common irl.

I tried a tea length and loved it but didn't feel comfortable wearing flat shoes with it (dumpy calves!)

Wearing flats as me and boyo are the same height and I don't want to tower over him at the altar.

So I have bought a long dress which I love but if money was no object I would have another dress and heels for the evening.

I tried a couple of tea lengths and I loved them, I just fell in love with my dress the first time I tried it on and nothing compared....it just happened to be long. Although it doesn't have a train so am hoping not to fall over!

Ha ha ha,,,the most expensive dress I'll ever wear? I've got jeans and jumpers that cost more. And they weren't that expensive!

But mine was long. I'm still not really sure why it matters?

I've gone with a tea length dress. I'm only 4ft 10 and it actually makes me look taller than a long dress does. Someone commented about it making you look younger... I certainly hope it does because at nearly 37 I could do with knocking a few years off for my big day!

I'll be wearing something tea-length, most likely. I'm still not decided if I'm going for a "bridal" dress or just choosing a pretty party dress, but since I'm getting married in winter in Scotland, a long dress is just asking to stand in a puddle and get it filthy within 3 seconds of walking out the door.

Long, partly for tradition, partly because I don't really like my legs, and having a slim but curvy upper body and chunky legs, a long A-line dress was far and away the best shape for me.

I said at the beginning that I didnt care about my dress. After trying just one on I got very disheartened but luckily found a lovely shop that stocked one I had spotted in a magazine. I tried it on a loved it !!!!! Now I really care about my dress. Its a floor length dress. I loved the tea length but as I am having a christmas wedding I thought the longer dress suited the theme and my sister who is getting married 3 weeks before me wanted a tea length.

I went with short as I am getting married in Las Vegas and its likely to be quite warm, but also because I really didn't want a traditional wedding dress (even though plenty of Las Vegas brides have them), during all of my dress researching I don't think I saw one long dress that I would wear! Also, I'm hoping I'll be able to wear my dress again, perhaps with a coloured sash so that it looks less like a wedding dress.
